Artur fishing boat

I know a few guys have notice the weird name Artur without an “H”.
I did notice that when I built the model, but that is the name that Nauticurso want it to use, I guess in case someone wants to complaint because this same model has being distributed by other manufacturers.
Here is their official website with a picture of their model.
I agree with the rest of the guys in this forum but like I said, they want to name this ship without the “H”. 🙄

Hi all, I noticed in a previous post on Artur the length mentioned as 22 inches. Both kits say 630mm which is 24.75 inches.
Like the model though and a very nice build as well.

Testing results sofar of the SMIT harber tug

This kit from BillingBoats, the SMIT NEDERLAND was A harber tug in Rotterdam Netherlands build in 1979. There where 9 of this tugs working in the harber. You can find more of my building in https://www.modelbouwforum.nl/threads/smit-nederland-billing-boats.282005/

I’ve contact with old sailers of this tug, and they are follow me in Holland, and have a lot of information of these 1800 serie build Tugs, in that time,….
Now i’ve testing the lights and sound.

Tug is still under construction,…

I Found Another Lockdown Video I'd Like To Share

During the first Lockdown I made the video about my N gauge railway layout which I put on the forum this morning. Whilst searching through my hard disc I found some others I had made at the same time. This is one of them.

Having previously been a fireman I have a great interest in the history of the service from it's beginnings and particularly the men and woman from the NFS and AFS who fought fires and completed rescues throughout the Blitz of World War II from the 7th September 1940 to the 11th May 1941 and beyond. When there was an air raid these men and women stayed above ground to fight the subsequent fires and make rescues from collapsed buildings when many other people took cover below.

This short video apart from being an exercise for me in making YouTube videos is also my tribute to those men and women.

Thank you very much for your reply to my post. Absolutely fascinating that your Mother was a valued member of the NFS in World War II. Many of the firewomen during the Blitz and throughout the war, although they did not perform frontline fire fighting duties were responsible for many tasks. They operated the telephone and radio systems and fire plotting rooms throughout the country many above ground and did suffer casualties from falling bombs. They also transported fire fighting equipment from location to location as needed and often delivered equipment to fire scenes during air raids. And of course we must not forget they also staffed the canteen wagons that provided food and a cup of tea to the firemen at often protracted incidents.

When the war first started in 1939 these men, with little to do, were looked upon by some people as those who where avoiding joining the armed services and serving with the British Expeditionary Force fighting in France. These men were looked down on as cowards. When the Blitz started in September of 1940 all that changed.

When the war ended, 1027 firemen and over 24 firewomen had lost their lives.

Winston Churchill called all that served in the NFS and AFS "Heroes with grimy faces"

Model Framing Jig

Seeing the time and effort other people put into their modelling hobby, and looking at the "build blogs" and forum comments on "Model Boats Website". I was prompted to share (with agreement) a couple of build (logs) blogs which would reach a wider audience via my youtube posts.
The intention is just to supplement and acknowledge ideas from all who share this common interest.
No monitorisation is received from this or any postings.

Mickey Finn

Purchased original Rojair Mickey Finn from Ashton Models 35 years ago - hull suffered damaged so made a F/G mould before repairing and sailing. Made spare hull from mould and there she sat for 35-40 years. Original Mickey was sold many years ago but as retirement approached the burning desire to fulfill old challenges re-emerged.
So , after putting out calls for help, diagrams, photos or information on the model boat forums, thanks to "John Dowd" and a couple of other guys, I finally got round to resurrecting this fantastic little yacht.

Trying to learn to use this forum properly I am publishing a video that shows an experiment I did to find out how fast the stepper motor could turn. I am using in my model of the sailboat Carina 2 stepper motors like the one shown in the video to work as a winch to control the position of the sails in a system solution where I am realizing this my own way to implement the sheets as shown on the original sailboat Endeavour. This requires my sheet control system to control the length of the sheet of the mainsail i.e. over a range of 8.3 meters. This requires the drum which is turned by the stepper motor to make 21 full turns. Details will be published in my report from scratch of building my Carina.

Aerokits Solent (plan built)

This is my just finished Solent built from the original plans and templates which I bought on eBay. Like many others on this forum, I have come over from aircraft, so that knowledge gave me s head start building this. She will hopefully get her first outing next week weather permitting!

Statia Relaint

First and foremost I would like to thank everyone that answered my question about fiberglassing. Your help guided me through the process and I believe that it came out very good, but still needs more work to smooth out the resin and of course I will post more progress pictures later on.
The name of the tug is “STATIA RELAINT”.
This is one of a fleet of four vessels built by Samakona Yards in Spain.
I chose this one because of the stealth lines that has throughout the structure or just because I love how it looks.
I am an artist (painter), and we fall in love with colors and shapes, so maybe thats another reason why Im building this particular one.
I was lucky to find the plans and enlarge them to 33” approximately 1/32 scale.
This will be my FIRST scratch built even dough I have built others from kits, but never like the experts I see in this forum.
I will be open for questions, suggestions and criticism.

Clyde Puffer Libby (Model Slipways kit)

See forum and my harbour (CapnJim) for more details.
Just some footage of my weathered Model Slipways Puffer - now some years old but still cruisin'. Still appreciating the model and is one of my favourites. One day I'll build a puffer at 1/32nd. but for now this does very well.
Easy build but lots of opportunities to add detail. This has all the bells and whistles (well 'steam' whistle, smoke generator and puffer engine sound at least). Would fit in a briefcase but still able to stay afloat against the wash of bigger boats or blustery winds. Surprisingly, steers well when going astern. Speed with supplied motor about 2mph ' but this is faster than scale by a margin.
