Michael
Dumas kit Carol Moran, renamed Michael for my first grandson. My first build, learning how to make those brass railings each post being soldered following a paper pattern. Some customizing at the request of my grandson with added port holes, and deck features. He helped to paint it.

Looks great.... a ‘team’ effort. Well done. I’m just beginning my first build having just finished a workstation to house tools etc. All very satisfying.

Lots of nostalgia and really looks like a working tug.
Be good to see some on water pics. Your grandson must be very proud and is to be congratulated on the painting.

As requested I have obtained some pics from Brian Clewes's Hovercraft.
The motors are 900 Kv with 80 amp Escs the lift fan is a 7 blade ducted fan, the thrust prop is a 12in x7in cut down to 10in.
Battery is 14.8v 5000Ma.

One of our members used a couple of old drone bits to make a twin prop version with steerable nozzles. Worked OK but very twitch as only a small craft like yours and the motors were powerful.

Funny that! I was just considering the same mod 😉
Think I'll try it first 'as is' before I start experimenting.
    Cheers Doug 😎

MTBs and 'Flowers'
Just ran across this (compared with most others from the era) incredibly sharp photo, (right click the photo then left click 'Show photo' and then'+' and you'll see what I mean by sharp!!😉) apparently (allegedly?) a
'Vosper 70ft Motor Torpedo Boat V-252 at Greenock in January 1942. in the background is the Flower class Corvette HMCS Trillium(K172)'
(Which makes me wonder if OUR Trillium served on her!?)
+ 2 others! Research continues, I have an interest in both types 😉
Cheers Doug 😎

Hovercraft
This is Brian Clewes Hovercraft on a frozen Boundary Park Lake in Cheshire UK.
Our resident cob swan and his wife were sat on the ice probably hoping we had brought some feed. They don't bother us and we leave them alone. I should have filmed them taking off later, not an easy task on ice for one of our largest birds.
The hovercraft has two brushless motors and uses a LiPo.

HMCS AGASSIZ (Corvette)
This truly stunning piece was created by Barry Sharman of Southampton international Plastic Modellers’ Society (IPMS UK). A replica of the HMCS Agassiz with a mind boggling level of detail not only on the outside but also on the inside visible through cut out sections of the hull. Barry invited me to see the other side of the model and was amazed to see several crew members restoring that side. Spectacular and no wonder it was protected by a glass case that Barry kindly removed so I could film it without chance of picking up any reflections.

Magnificent detail work. it is a masterpiece of modelling.
  • RNinMunichFleet Admiral
    Absolutely, Modelling par excellence👍
Just think of the planning that must have gone into this! Building such detail deck for deck from the keel up 😲 Never mind the superb weathering, just back from several N Atlantic crossings!?
And where the heck did he get all the interior detail from ?????
Fabulous, just great shame that she'll never float 🤔

2 Unknowns
Two models seen at the Plymouth Gin Factory in the Barbican. Whilst there I had to sample the product and chose the Plymouth Navy Gin, which is gunpowder proof at over 57% and like drinking a single malt compared to a blend. Recommended. We were in Plymouth for the IMASS shipwreck conference the next day, which ranged from Byzantine to WW1 Naval shipwrecks, including HMS Hampshire and HMS Vanguard.

Bargain Tomkat
Somebody was either disillusioned with model boats or impecunious to the Nth degree because he let me have this BRAND NEW Ripmax Tomkat complete with Motor, ESC, brand new steering servo, action man driver, decals and instructions for a brownie with a bluey postage.
Not my usual type of model but will make a fun change down at our 'postage stamp' lake (?)
