HI Bob. I've got a DragonForce 60 catamaran and recently a ProBoat Ragazza one metre.
Have you considered controlling jib and main separately?
I used to be indecisive but now I'm not so sure?

Hello Corm,no use for the 3rd chan on my yachts[Fairwind Dragonforce] just yet,not sure what you could add?Is always useful though, better to have one extra available, switchable mast lights?Bob.

Bob, Thank you for that. Have you found a use for Ch 3?
Since I got the set I have seen a pan and tilt kit by Hobbycraft, for my GoPro which I have mounted on the stern. Thought I could use Ch 3 in some way, but wishful thinking I'm told.

HI Cormorant,I have the same Tamco 3 channel TX [Tac 330] as you will have..Just remember,as I found out...this TX runs with the 3 channel Micro RX [P-Tarx3] only,I bought another Tamco 4 channel RX for it,and it would not bind. All sorted now...great set btw.Good luck.Lakeside Bob.[Yachter].

HI canbus

If possible try to get them as vertical as possible, there is a chance of losing radio signal at range because of the water blocking the signal

HI Jarvo
I have the 90 degrees part right but the 45 degrees is only about 10 degrees because of no room in the stern of my 25 and 1/4 inch Aerokits Sea Hornet.
My next has the room because it is 37 and 1/2 inch.

HI Canbus

A word of worning about your aerial instalation, idealey you want the twin aerials at 90 degrees apart and at 45 degrees to the vertical, this is for maximum reception, hobbyking do a neet little mounting with tubes to achieve this.

HI canabus.

I have gone for a Tamco 3 channel set with extra receivers, which supports 16 model memories and a reasonable price. I can't see me neeeding more than three channels as my scale days are over. I am now concentrating on sail.

Thank you for your reply.
Steve.

HI Steve
I have the Hobbyking Turnigy IA-6 six channel which supports up to 20 models(I have 8 receivers at present). The receiver has two aerials so I have one going across the hull and the other going the length of the hull.
Programming is on-board via the LCD screen.
The bind lead is loop around one of the servo leads.
I also have a cheaper Hobbyking 6 channel HK-T6A V2 which requires programming on a computer (uses XP system only).
I would buy another one of these again.

HI Steve
Glad to hear you are sorted. I suppose the real criteria is the cost and availablity of spare receivers. I have an RG 65 yacht which came with a Joysway tx/rx. I sold mine at the Boat Convention last year for a tenner so you may be able to move your sets on once you have your new Tamco.

Yes its an original Aerokits 34" Crashtender. I use a small brushless and 11.1v LiPo with 2.4 GhZ. Goes very fast and I had to use my Futaba set to control the stick throw. I could only use the trim sticks using the Planet set. I have the kit part built for the 48" larger version and also have a Sea Queen with a large brushless and PropShop prop. I use two way radio so I can monitor the LiPo voltages and temp. The facility is there to use GPS to measure the speed but I have not managed to get this working so far.

As you say happy days, my IC's were all in model planes!

Thanks Dave

The sets came with the boats and are labelled Joysway and ProBoat. I have bit the bullet and ordered a Tamco 3 channel set with an extra Rx as recommended by Mike from RC Yachts. He uses one himself.
The receivers are £15 each so not expensive should I require more.

Is that an Aerokits RAF Crashtender I see below your id? I built one of those 30 years ago and powered it with a Frog 3.5cc marine diesel!
Happy days.

As you already have 2 2.4GhZ sets it should be possible to buy a separate rx that works with one of your Tx sets. it would probably be best to choose the better of the two Tx sets as some have reduced range. Which Tx sets do you have?
Not all sets require binding plugs but if they do the plug shorts the signal pin to the ground(-ve)pin. Many just have a small recessed button on the rx that you press when binding.
Most modern sets including the Tamco work fine, but some are only suitable for close range, but for a yacht or boat this may not be a problem.
My own yachts need the winch servo travel to be adjustable so I use sets that allow me to adjust the stick endpoint. if you need this and your set does not offer this, I believe Action have a small add on between the rx and servo that allows you to reduced the travel on an individual channel.
Good hunting

Think I have one, was going to use it for my yacht, but haven't got round to it. Other than that.
With all 2.4's, always keep the bind plug handy. I've had a few cases when they have "un binbed". I then spend ages checking everything else, then the penny drops. Something else I've found with mine, is the range isn't as good 27 or 40 Meg. it's a known problem with water, signal can bounce off it I gather. Therefore no good for subs. I mount mine as high as I can in the Model.

Thank you both.
It looks like I will have to buy a new Tx with two receivers.
I have been looking at theTamco 2.4ghz computer 3 Channel kit.
Do either of you know the make?

HI if you buy a new transmiter say planet t5 you can use as many receivers you won't on your transmiter, I have five boat that all run on one hand set just bind them together and off you go. Hope this helps.

Chances are you need the same make as transmitter. I have spectrum dx6I transmitters, one for forward only fasty's, one with standard "spring to centre" throttle for my normal boats. Both can memorise individual settings for 10 models each. Also I can double up on each one so long as, for example the rudder and motor goes the same way on each model. I think the latest transmitters can do 150 models!!!!!!.
Hobby king do there own versions under the Orange brand, and are compatible with Spektrum.

I currently have two yachts with separate Tx and Rx, both 2.4Ghz., but different makes.
My plan is to use one receiver for both, with the possibility of increasing my fleet and adding further receivers.
If I purchased a new transmitter can I bind the two existing receivers or do I need to get new receivers the same mke as the transmitter?
Anyone any knowledge please?
