Thank you again GBR716.
This will save me trying to get the required font and size (the easy bit) matched-up with a printer/vinyl cutter who may not already know what is required.
As soon as my registration number comes through I will order the numbers and GBR sail letters .
Stay safe,
Bob.

I am getting a boat "sorted" and have applied for a registration number.
All I need to find now is a good supplier of pre-cut letters and numbers to the correct spec.
Do you have a supplier that you can recommend or use that these can be bought from?
Many thanks - all of the links you have supplied have been very helpful and interesting.

Sail numbers are self adhesive vinyl and are easy to apply. Some do use ink marker pens and stencil them on but they don't look as good. There is guidance to correct number positions here:
https://dfracingdotworld.files.wordpress.com/2016/03/df95-a-rig-sail-number-spacing-guide.pdf
I will see if he (Mike Weston) sells the numbers and find out if they are iron-on or self adhesive.
Many thanks,
Bob.

RC Yachts. Mike Weston who runs the business is an authority on all matters DF95. His mail order service is second to none. https://www.radiosailing.co.uk/dragonflite-95-yachts-179-c.asp
Thanks - that is (almost) all the info I need get started.
Having gained a registration number - where do you recommend buying suitable numbers and how do you apply them to the sails?
I am guessing that any of the optional sail sets could be bought from third party suppliers with these numbers already screen printed on?
Bob.
Thanks GBR716.
Those are very helpful links.
How do you register the yacht and get your own GBR sail numbers for your DF95 ?
Many thanks for your advice,
Bob.

The reasons for Chew Valley Lake S.C, preferring the DF95 are very simple. 1. Costs being significantly cheaper than other RC yachts like Marbleheads and IOM's. 2. Hull length of 95cm would cope better with the waves we get at Chew than the DragonForce 65 would. 3. Strict one design racing where its the skippers performance that counts.

I like the idea of any "one type" class of boat .
The last time that I had anything like that was years ago when Derek Priestly made the Mustang yachts for a one type class of racing at Fleetwood.
My wife and I each had one made (both with three suits of sails) but family illness back home in Bath took us away from this for 2-3 years, and when we returned we had lost a lot of the interest and the class was no longer quite as popular as it was back in its heyday.
Move-on 15 - 20 years (and retirement) and maybe the Dragonflite95 could have some interest for us?
I will check it out!

Thank you!
If things go to plan and the vaccination program also goes to plan we may be able to get down again sometime after the end of July.
Stay safe!

I live in Lancashire but come from Bath and occasionally visit family and friends (about once a year) and hope that when things return to "near-normal" again, that I could bring one of my model boats with me and have a sail with it one afternoon perhaps - would this be possible?

Electric powered boats are not strictly prohibited at Chew Valley Lake as the pike fishermen use them as bait boats. At Chew Valley Lake Sailing Club, model boating is primarily aimed at sailing yachts, preferably the Dragonflite95 class.

Can electric powered model boats be sailed on the lake - or is it for sailing boats only?
