USCG SURFMAN'S CREED
Boys become SURFMEN! This is the core of the US Coast Guard and what the reason I enlisted. Although I chose to be a Signalman and Navigator, my opinion is that a Coast Guard Surfman, in any country, any uniform, any language, is the true real man.
You have to go out, but you don't have to come back

Brass Fittings
I don't know if this is of interest to other modellers, but I was trawling through Ebay's wares when I found this supplier and, on a whim, decided to once again try my hand at using etched brass parts. As you might see, not exactly the biggest of fittings, but they really test the patience and skill.
Also in one of the photos is the brass bending tool I use and the supplier can be found at http://stores.ebay.co.uk/models-parts-shop?_trksid=p2047675.l2563

The motor units are Robbe EF76 with fitted gearboxes, rated at 6 - 8volts, superb units and very reliable, did you strip and clean the gearboxes as well???? were the photos taken before you cleaned the motors???
The battery space looks to have been fitted with 4 x 6v 4ah batteries, probably giving 6v drive power, might have been 12v. is there an ESC fitted?? that would give us the final key, apart from the red and black wire in the 4th photo is there any other wiring???

Regarding the batteries, I suspect it was 2 x 6V ?Ahr gel cells. One for each motor. 2 x ESC and possibly the Robbe mixer.

I agree with Jarvo it could have been 12v from 2 x 6v in series but it was common to use 6v during this period.

Could be the space was for the ESC.

    Hello Boatshed

This model was from a kit manufactured by DPI Leisure industries in the USA, almost the same construction,
and as far as I know, not in business any more with the modelling side of things.
That Piranha is a superb model and even better when coupled with an otznot brushless and 4s I know I have one here
