My three latest aquisitions: a pleasure launch, a speed boat and a landing craft rigged out for the Vietnam war. The landing craft is ready to go, as is the speed boat (speed boats not my thing to be honest) but the pleasure launch will be a project. I intend to replace the upper cabin, strip the paint and maybe just varnish the hull, add some planking for the deck plus it needs all the running gear....should keep me busy for a while
Your speedboat is an "Intercepter 650" and came in two versions, Ready to run with installed radio gear or as a bare bones and fit your own running gear and radio. I have the ready to run and has a decent turn of speed.
One of my Old Trafford paddle steamers enhanced by my mate Duncan Laurimer and sailing on the put up pond at Tilford Rural Life Centre yesterday. Good fun was had by all !! This is Creepy,a springer tug that is 5 yrs old now.He pushes #1200lb pumpkins for the pumpkin regatta along with saving many of the PMPBA club members boats from certain sinking or floating away.I never go to any of the club floats without him.He runs a Harbor freight 550 motor running a Target Hobby 320amp ESC,on a 5000mah 2s lipo battery.The plans can be downloaded free off the internet and takes about a week to build for the experienced builder,Great for the new boat builders to do because its an easy build tug.Simple door skins,some balsa,1/2a running gear from Dumas,1.5 brass prop,2x2 rudder from aluminum,cheap 2channel radio,ESC from Target Hobby.

Having installed the running gear I just had to try it out. The boat is about half the weight it should be so ballast is something I will have to add. But lots more to do yet

The reason it can pivot pretty much in its own length is because it is fitted with a bow thruster.
In this case it's a Raboesch model
The two main motors are Emax BL4030 brushless motors running with Hobbyking 90 amp escs. I power these with two 5 cell lipos batteries in parallel.
The Raboesch bow thruster has a brushed motor rated at 7.2 volts and this runs through an esc for brushed motors. (I was lucky to have one ready after I converted one of my boats to a brushless motor). I power the bow thruster with a 7.2 volts nimh battery pack again left over after going to brushless and lipo batteries.

Hi Les, fantastic job on your lifeboat! I'm thinking I'd like to build a pilot boat, maybe the one from aeronaut. as long as the model is made of plastic I'm good anything else and I'm lost! hope you don't mind but I think I'll put a bow thruster in mine also.
HMT Confident built by my late father, Scratch built over two and half years. Twin 65mm props driven via a scratch built gearbox by one 800 size motor. Original 2 channel Sanwa radio fitted and working fine. Lights, working radar, water canon, winch, horn and bow thruster all of the 2 channel by using the trims and micro switches.
I decided to build from scratch HMS Blake, I used the Jecobin Plan for HMS Tiger 1/96 scale. This was the first ship I served on in the Royal Navy 1976 to 1979. The hull is supplied by Scalewarships.com, the fittings, Scalewarships.com, John Haynes Fittings and SIMAR; the running gear from GT Sitek.
The build is nearing completion and now requires the guardrails and the decks fixing in place.
HI Martin. I would love to see that as I'm finishing a 1/72 scale one. I brought a 70% built Hms Marlborough but converting to an RN one,thinking either Kent,Lancaster or Somerset. I've had to do a couple of mods like changing the Vickers to a kryton version etc. it was mostly tugs n trawlers when I joined but there's more grey funnel stuff now and a few subs as well including my Trafalgar class so it's worth coming down.

Mk 2 engine running on air. will be installed in model of Kingswear Castle, one day. Again running on low pressure. The gear centre of crank runs 3to1 in gear on paddle shaft.
