Laser Project
Im a couple of years younger - also have a good eye - cant stand rivet counters and what really gets my goat is "True Scale Colours" - which are definitely not as they fail to allow for scale distance...............
We clearly both achieve the same thing re the kerf using different approaches. For instance when inserting a window for a boat I always scale up from the cutout to give a precise fit.

I'm not a rivet counter, but I do have a good eye at age 79. If it looks good to me, it will probably look good to most people. I don't worry about the few who may wish to criticise. My machine isn't entirely accurate, but any imperfections add character to the job in my opinion.
I spend a lot of time on the plans making sure everything will fit. I'm sure you will have done the same on your projects. I keep the machine clean, but otherwise it worked out of the box. I mainly make buildings which don't suit this site, but I've also built an HO ship and Gantry which I'll post tomorrow if I get time.

Always have a problem with the very fine stuff - the cutline on ours is approx .3mm thick so you have to add on for it to get the right width of components. Usually find between 100.5% and 101% does the trick. Ours is the Generic Chinese version with honeycomb vertically movable bed - nominal 600x900 - used for commercial stuff like Plaques , trophies etc. Lucky enough to be able to use it for my boats and for some Aircraft, Vehicles at 1/18th scale, plus the occasional Toy like a siege catapult all of which we used to market. Most are my design as well. Funnily enough sold the designs of a Land Rover Series 1 and a generic Jeep to a friend who has moved to Perth & bought a laser like ours there. Sent him a lot of others too - including a trailer, off road camper trailer and the Tiger Moth.

I haven't posted for a long time, so I thought I'd kick off with an N Scale (2mm foot) waterline model of a Container Ship and Container Gantry I recently built for my model railway club.
Everything you can see is laser cut. I have my own machine and I also designed the lot. The model still lacks some finer details such as a free-fall life boat and rafts. The model is just over 2 ft long (600mm). Materials are 1.5mm Ply (shell) and .7mm Ply for the skin. The gantry raises, but is otherwise a static model.
I'm sorry but plans aren't available. I'm thinking of creating a kit both in N and HO scale. It will depend on availability of materials.
