Helping out a friend

Think you made a smashing job of that daggerplate. It's seldom that even a professional boat builder would go to that much trouble. Well done.

Helping out a friend

A friend of mine has a small sailing boat, on a trip out of Abersoch he was unfortunate enough to lose his drop down dagger plate.
He was unable to obtain a replacement so I made a new one.
It is made of laminated iroko timber. Encased within each laminate is a strip of one inch square lead. It weighs in at about 80kg.
After laminating up and taking to shape it was glassfibered and resin coated.
