Rowen,
I have sent my files twice, the last time in multiple message format. Could they be hiding in your Spam folder?

Have done that several times and it is quite satisfying.
Prefer to use GF though for the faster boats as it is more robust.
Keep in touch as an interested in how you get along.
What Powertrain have you chosen and what batteries?

I did it the hard way using the plan. All went well until right at the end of skinning a bump appeared. Ever mind pressed it down hard and glued a bit of ply inside. Covered it in glass cloth and a water based resin. It was hard work.
Haven’t started on the Deans 4.5 in gun yet. Bruce

Hi Bruce, that is interesting and reassuring!
Once bought a Deans product and was not entirely satisfied. Sounds as if this will be better, wil know in about a week when it arrives.
I could not find a kit for the 4.5" Cannon fitted to some Darks. Do not confuse with the usual 4.5" gun fitted to larger vessels. Very different.
RN in Munich sent some scans and am working on it. Not difficult if you break it down into sections. Am making it from bits of scrap so appeals to my Yorkshire Heritage!
Assume you are building a 1: 24 Dark, where did you get your hull or are you building from scratch?
I have ordered one from MTBHulls but think they are closed due to a lock-down.

Hi, ref Deans Bofors kit I am on the same road and bought one. Very happy with it but remember it is a bit delicate. I have also got their 4.5 in gun kit to build. Main problem I have is getting the motors aligned up properly have used a tool but it is very fiddly little finger room in the hull.

Cheers Bruce

Rowen,
It looks that Doug has come thru for you. I was going to scan the book today, but he beat me to it. Good for Doug! Should you still want any of the drawings from John and Al's book, please just shout.

Now you should have enough info to make a working model Rowen😁
Don't shoot up the neighbours please 😮
Remember though; it's a low muzzle velocity device, max effective range 1.7 miles 😁
Cheers, Doug 😎
PS Boy am I glad I don't have a 40mm plan! 😀😁😂
Good luck with the Dean's kit 🤞🤞

Next instalment, bottom row of sheet 1. 😎
There's a generous overlap in the centre and the site has reversed the order as usual 😠
but I'm sure you'll figure it out 👍
On to Sheet 2!

Understood 👍
Looks like P1101 Dark Adventurer would be a good subject then.
Good luck with the Dean's 40mm 🤞
I'll get back to the 'Machinery Space' now 😁
Ciao, 😎

Thanks Doug,
Will await the balance in due course.
Think right now am OK for the other items. Have decided to build my Dark as a gunboat, so do not need torpedo tubes for it.
Have ordered a 40mm bofors kit form Deans and am apprehesive aboiut the quaility having seen to comments on this site.
Will describe my experiences once the package is recived.
Thanks again Rowen

Just in case you prefer the MK II mount Rowen 😉
But the attached pics of P1101 Dark Adventurer suggests that the MK 1 mount is correct.
You can clearly see the buttresses under the rim.

Thought it might be Rowen.
Hope you have an A3 printer 😁
Was only jesting about all night, I'll pop the rest over shortly.
Any interest in 21" torpedoes, depth charge throwers or 2mm Oerlikons? 😊
Roll up. Roll up!
Have the Lambert plans for those as well.
Were very handy when refitting my destroyer.
More later.
Cheers, Doug 😎

RN DARK CLASS

Hi Doug,
That looks spot-on.
Hate to have you scan night or post it at this stage. Toradog is going to scan and send the information he has. It might be enough.
If it is not as comprehesive as yours, can we then see what is the best approach?
Can you get a copy as hate to take your only one?
Best Regards

RN DARK CLASS

Hi Rowen,
I believe I have EXACTLY what you are looking for! 😊
An original of John Lambert's plan for the single 4.5" 8 cwt gun on MK1 mounting for Coastal Vessels /Small Warships. Number L/O/31/A & B. Two sheets.
Drawn 6.5.86 from original Vosper plans.
I reckon there's enough detail to build a working full size version.
It's on two 'almost' A1 size sheets; ca 65x85cm. Two A3 scanned samples attached.
I bought the plan, via David MacGregor Plans, about 30 years ago.
Never used it cos I was more interested in the predecessor 4.7" gun as used on my 1:72 H class destroyer.
PM or email me your address and I'll post it to you.
Or shall I carry on scanning for the rest of the night? 😁
Cheers, Doug 😎

Thanks John,
It might well be. Toradog has the book and as am now aware here are two versions, have sent details so hope he can identify the correct one.
Lets see how he gets on before you go down the same path.
Hate to have two people doing the same thing at the same time!
Thanks for your help

RN DARK CLASS

John and Al' book does include plans for the 4.5" Mark Ias well as the 4.5" MarkII(manual) mounting. Which one do you need? If you PM me, I'll be happy to scan the images and send them to you.

Since I raised this topic have had much vaulable information sent, thanks all for helping.
One item I am stuck with is the 4.5" cannon mounted on the foredeck though.
Every search ends up at a standard RN 4.5" gun similar to ones used on larger vessels. Cannot finding anything on the 4.5" cannon.
Have been advise the John Lambert "Allied Coastal Forces Vol 1" contains drawings, but the book is not available through my library and it is expensive.
Does anybody have any drawings of this cannon or even a copy of the book and can send scans of the drawings?
Thanks,
Rowen
