Hello People,
I took some pictures of the box with the contents of the Lesro Atlantic 21
So you can see what has been built and what has not yet been built.

The intention was to build a Lesro Atlantic 21 rubber boat that was used by Greenpeace to take action.
Then the propulsion must also have power.
Hence propulsion through the hull, so that you could use a more powerful engine.
Another possibility is propulsion with model outboard motors.

Due to health reasons, but also no longer being able to build, the Atlantic 21 is stored in a cupboard and is therefore now for sale!
According to a construction report, this model is scale 1:12.

Option 1):
- Construction kit of the Atlantic 21 in original box
- Steering servo
- Speed controller
- Receiver
- Transmitter
Asking price 300 euros (or another reasonable offer)

Option 2)
If you are only interested in the construction kit, you only pay 250 euros (or another reasonable offer)!

HI Jim,

I'll refer back to your post when I make the changes to the Harbour. Some useful feedback there 😊

Also, here is a rough draft development webpage: mdlbt.com/development.php

Thanks,
Stephen

HI Stephen,

The Likes and My Posts sound good!

As you'll already be aware the harbour database choices are never going to satisfy everybody and there is only a finite amount of material/questions you can collect/ask.

I think it would help me, and perhaps others, if there was a (developing?) statement on the site indicating the aims and general approach to its development. in this way I could try and keep any suggestions within practical bounds and within the consensus(?) view of its stakeholders (whoever they are considered to be).

I am very conscious of not wanting to increase your workload with Irrelavances or pushing in a direction that does not have purpose or support.

Now in answer to your reply.

I'm assuming that the idea of the harbour is more than logging your own boats and that over time there might be some directory or search capability for others to see other members with similar models/interests?

In such a case the database needs to be as comprehensive as possible but with summarized categories of the most vital parameters of a boat - any boat.

At present, and given the development of the site (I'm trying to catch up!) I can see why you have the form as is. Given the rapid development of the membership, and I can see it as being exponential, you might be at a crucial point in leaving well alone and adding categories randomly as they are suggested or going for a significant makeover to set it up for the future - just a thought?

Questions raised are:
Type of Model: Everything I think? Currently incomplete and a very difficult call to limit to say

HI Jim,

Thanks for spreading the word! 😊

Yes, there is a new website theme in development, and part of this will see the introduction of "My Posts" and "My Likes". My Posts will list all your posts, including what blogs you're the author of, and what forum topics you've posted in. My Likes will display anything on the website you've "Liked", this is a new button that'll be added to all posts.

As for the Harbour, it's not a great deal of work to extend the options available. I'd be interested to hear what options are missing.

Type of Model: Everything I think?
Boat Length: 5 to 200 inches
Boat Weight: 500g to 20kg

- New fields -
Beam: 1 to 30 inches
Draft: 0 to 12 inches
----------------

Motor Type: Brushed, Brushless, Steam, IC, (Include "not powered"?)

- Everything below only if powered -
Drive Type: Belt, Chain, Geared, Direct
Number of Props: Single, Twin, Triple, (Include "4 or more"?)
Max Constant Amps: 5A to 150A
Battery type: Everything I think?
Amp/h: 1 to 15
Prop Type: 2 to 5 Blade
-------------------------------------------

Average Run Time: 5 to 120 minutes
Speed: 0 to 15mph (maybe it should go up to 50mph? 😀 )

Any thoughts to add?

HI Stephen,

Great site that I only found earlier this year. Am spreading the word like everyone else I guess.

I know you're doing something about each member being able to see their collective contributions - soam eagerly awaiting this.

Only suggestion as a new comer at present is that the 'Harbour' form is a bit biased to certain types of vessel and doesn't allow more complete entries for the widest variety of boats.

e.g Categories of model - not much going on the sailing side, size of models - combo boxes offer limited range of values for some parameters - size, weight and nothing about beam or draft and general emphasis on electric power?
Sail boats only have a couple of valid entries to make - which I'm sure is missing out on future info. value.

I'm guessing that the suggestions would not involve stupid amounts of reworking and hope that the database generated could be used in some positive way for future features/facilities.

All the work is certainly appreciated and if you think my suggestions have some merit and would like some more details I'd be only to happy to provide.

Regards,
Cap'n Jim (Jim Dewar).

Website popularity has been Increasing year on year, certainly I've seen much more activity this year compared to the same time last year. Apps have been a huge help, and since launching the Android and IOS apps the member base has been much more wide spread across the world too. Members from Canada, Spain, South Africa and most recently Egypt which I needed to add to the country list as It wasn't catered for!

This Is all great news, and certainly as the sole developer behind this website and Its apps It's with great pleasure to see the number of members hit what we have now. What's more, over 70% of you have been active within the last year! So It's not even just legacy members we're talking about.

It gives me great enthusiasm to develop things further. Give people more content, more collaboration and more features. What features do you all like? Is there anything you would like that Is missing?

A big thanks to you all too! It's hard work and expensive behind the scenes keeping this place going, so to reach mile stones like this makes It really worth It 😀
