That sounds like a great haul Marky,
It's things like that which helps us ordinary folk feel better with the world.
Will you be putting the steamer in a boat???
Cheers Colin.

The nurse came with the box of boat bits very pleasant surprise it contained a Hull ,built but painted with what looks like a few coats of thick gloss paint , the Hull is the Billings Wasa and there was also a box with the masts and plans and a box of fittings (cannons etc. ) I will take some pictures either later today or tomorrow .
There was also a small vertical steam engine that has a small meths burner under it and a piston driven flywheel (pictures to follow).so a donation to the nurses cancer charity secured the hoard .

As long as you are not in too much pain or anything Mark and feel, as if it's not affecting your daily comings and goings too much. Does your hospital have a scheme where you can look up on line to see the results of blood tests and it tells you if they are within expected range? I have a blood test every month. With me, I feel rough most of the time and just can't get on with anything. I think it's this forum that's doing a lot to hold me together. Staff shortages in the kidney clinic means that they have cut everyone down to treatment twice a week instead of three, not sure if that will help long term. This getting old and illness business ain't very nice is it?.

All the best,
Nerys

Hi Nerys , just a check up to redress the wounds and some blood tests the new medication they put me on can effect liver function and blood pressure so will now need bloods done every fortnight ,there also going to discuss whether I am suitable for a new cancer drug trial (fingers crossed).
Hope your keeping safe and well .

Thats great Marky, I have received many items like that from total strangers, and usually get rebuffed if I offer money.
One elderly gentleman visited the Abergavenny show in 2014 and saw my display, the following day he turned up with a couple of cardboard boxes full of boat bits, plus a Hull.
Then he told us that he had a pond yacht his grandfather had built in 1934 as a present for his dad, but he couldn't get it in his car, he said I could have it if I collected it.
No hesitation, I said yes and we arranged for the collection the following weekend.
When we got to Neath in South Wales where he lived alone he asked if we had time to look at his collection and it would have been extremely rude to refuse.
So after loading my car with the yacht and some more bits and pieces we had a tour around the garden with a fabulous steam railway layout.
Inside his house all the rooms had fully operational steam engines all connected to a low pressure airline and could be run at the press of a button on a remote control.
My wife and I will never forget the wonderful day spent with him and his passion for steam.
Needless to say we keep in touch, and he always visits our stand in the model tent at the Abergavenny show.
The yacht stands out as its the tallest boat in my display at 4.5 feet high in the centre of a 30 foot table display.
He even approved of the replacement sails and rigging my wife had made during the conservation work.
Its things like this that brings people together without any problems or pressure.
Cheers Colin.

Thanks Colin , when I was in hospital a nurse saw me reading model boats mag and asked if I was interested in model boats and that she and her husband had just moved to a new house and there was a box of model boat bits in the garage so she is going to bring them on Monday to see if there any use to me ,I wait with baited breath.
With any luck an early Christmas .
