A Mustang and a Lightning, interesting TV programme on Lightnings a day or two ago. I even remember making models of them both.
Thank you for those kind words too, though I have to admit I'm somewhat fragile these days. I find walking difficult too and that's around the house. It's wheelchair elsewhere. I think it's mainly the dialysis taking it out of me more than anything else. Sometimes I feel rough for hours afterwards. The frustration of Lockdown isn't helping, the main thing is we are not allowed to travel anywhere, that's my main beef. I can easily cope with everything else. Anyway, I'll keep going and thank any deity you like to mention that I still have a good selection of marbles.

Best regards, Nerys

Hi Bill, glad you managed to get a sail a couple of days ago. I think a lot of us are suffering from sail deprivation at the moment. I've looked up a lot of lakes and they all seem to be 'closed for the duration', funny how these old wartime phrases are being revived!. The lake where I normally sail is open, but only to the locals as their area, like mine is in lockdown and under Welsh rules we must not travel out of our own areas. As you say, there are probably a lot of Lockdown projects going on and hopefully, one day, 'when the lights come on again' we'll all be able to meet up and see a plethora of new boats.

Hi Onemancave, There is a picture of my Dragonforce in My Harbour. They are exactly the same, but mine has my name on each side for identification purposes as they are all exactly the same unless you pay extra for different color hull. Let's get in touch again when the straitjacket comes off. Seems ridiculous, just a few miles along the M4.

Cheers, Nerys

Hi Onemancave1,
I've looked you up and see that you live in Talbot Green, I'm not exactly in Ammanford, it's Brynamman, but for all that under Lockdown conditions it could be a thousand miles away. However, I'm in no hurry to sell, she's moored up perfectly happy in my lounge. If, when things get easier, you are still interested, please get in touch.

All the best, Nerys

Actually Doug, I just mentioned to Ken that I had one for sale and he put a note on the VGMBC facebook page. I bought it from a member who was going to Thailand to live and was disposing of his fleet. My firetender kit came from him as well. I decided that I didn't need two Dragon Force65s, but it's quite happy moored up next to a Thames Barge. If it sells at some stage, it sells, but I'm not worried either way. I steer away from Facebook as such, too much personal information is collected by them and many other organisations.

I made some melon rum many years ago. Cut the bottom third off a melon, dig out and ditch a lot of the innards, fill with brown sugar. Stick the two bits of melon together using lots of sticky tape. Hang with a bowl underneath. After a while, the melon rots and a liquid drips out which tastes more or less like rum. No claims for damages accepted, but I'm still alive.

I like it even more with Jameson's whiskey (note attention to detail folks 'ey'😉).
A teaspoon of brown sugar (real stuff not coloured) rounds it off and helps the cream float.
Warming the glass also helps bring out the flavours😋😋😋

"May have to invent my own distillery over the winter if the admirals don’t up the Rum Tot.

Sorry Sub, this Admiral can't help!
I only made wine before I left UK.
When I arrived here (BRD) I discovered that you could buy decent wine in any supermarket so there wasn't any point anymore! Even though I had apple, pear, cherry and raspberries in the the garden. The was no market for the equipment etc here anyway.
I used to buy my supplies, except the fruit, at Boots in UK.

I managed a sneaky sail two days ago in the double locks in Exeter.(We are low risk and no real restrictions).
Seems strange I know.
I fear for the future weeks, months.
Looks like a lot of building, refits and not a lot of sailing over the winter 😢.

Over here, at the moment I can use our lake, as long as I don't take more than five other bods with me! And all wear masks. Irrelevant, I'm usually on me tod.
But the rules here seem to change by the day.
There's been a big debate today amongst the 16 (🙄) Minister Presidents and the Chancellor (Angie) to try and unify the rules across the country. Germany is a Federation and the 16 States (Lände) are autonomous in many issues!
Be like Boris negotiating with the Leaders of all the UK County Councils. I couldn't imagine a greater chaos. Apart from the US at the moment🤔

With all the uprated Lockdown restrictions currently being enforced, purely as a matter of interest, how many lakes in England are open and being used. The lake I normally use, Cold Knap, Barry is open to members living in that area, Vale of Glamorgan, which excludes me, but the other two lakes within striking distance, one of which is within my council area, are closed for the duration, 'Closed for the duration' ,I remember phrases like that from WW2.

But they all disliked a certain hill they were forced to ascend in a limited time - carrying extra heavy packs for fun..............

"so it appears no long term damage"
Good to hear Nerys😊
Many years ago my (at that time) exorbitantly expensive Graupner MC-10 'computer🙄' TX fell in the lake while I was rescuing my HMS Hotspur destroyer, whose RX had gone AWOL!
My daughter Jessica, who sadly died in a stupid accident 2001, fished it out pronto and promptly took the batteries out 😊
At home we dried it out with a hair drier, and it's still going strong today, mainly used with my submarines these days.
Since then I spray my TX inside with a so called 'Conformal Coating'.
Which I had got used to doing while developing / testing MIL STD radio equipment.
Main thing in such circumstances is always to remove the battery connection ASAP to stop any electrolytic corrosion of the circuit board tracks or damage to the decoder IC itself!
Hope you are still in business🤞

Hi Ken, nice to see you Sunday but I wouldn't be surprised if it's not a long time before we see a repeat. The boat has dried out and appears to be working as she should, so it appears no long term damage. Alice says she will take the receiver out, clean it with switch cleaner etc and make sure there's nothing wrong.

Thanks everyone for the words of encouragement, I'm not knocking the Beacons but we've always been used to travelling far afield. At least if we went up to the Beacons, Alice would have unpolluted space in which to use her radios and set up a mobile station. Perhaps in the absence of water I could start building some military vehicles to populate my LST when I get round to building her.

I'm sure she would have already done so if the garden had been big enough, but please recall the shed building programme of a while ago. However she is not inactive, work has commenced on the conversion of the minibus. She was fitting the up front passenger seat today and measuring up for the insulation and panelling, lots of essential goods now on order. Trouble is, when it's finished, will we be able to use it or will we be confined to a night on the Brecon Beacons, three miles from home?
