The Cruel Sea.

It's the councils impose the rules, which means of course, that they are hidebound with the dreaded 'elf an' safety, and being completely ignorant of such things they liken a model boat to a steam roller.

Running steam can be an issue for some clubs and I'm not sure why the pressures are not that high so as to cause a problem.
But we must go by the rules of the club.
I'm lucky as my club allows steam but I must say I'm very careful when I run them .

The corvettes are the matchbox/revell kits at 1/72 scale but not yet built, so no photo's, sorry Bill☹️
but my Amethyst is in my harbour if you want a shuffty, have got HMS Cossack on the building table at the moment, with HMS Kelley right behind, will try and do a build blog for these two.😊

I saw a steam engine advertised at what I thought was a good price recently and my thoughts immediately went to building an African Queen or a Borkum lookalike. Problem, steam and IC not allowed on our lake.

I cannot find a lot that I enjoy on TV, in fact I feel that I watch a lot of dross, but watching and enjoying are two entirely different things. There was something about all those old wartime films that made them watchable time and time again even if I did see them first time round. I can even remember what cinema I saw some of them. The Cruel Sea for instance was in The Capitol in Cardiff,

Hi Doug.
Yep your right.
Brilliant films in all aspects, along with so many more oldies,Dam Busters,Bridge over the River Kwai to name but a few.
Must be getting old.

Yes Bill, the corvettes are great little ships, also got two myself, one with all the electrics in, but not yet built, and another still in the box, the thing is,they are now fetching high prices on Ebay, so might be worth stashing them for later.
How about 'The Yangtze Incident' film, liked it so much went and bought and built 'HMS Amethyst😁'

Hi Pete.
Flower class corvettes are one of my favourite little ships.
I already have got two in service and another awaiting building in the box (not from Deans).
I think the wife would have a fit if I said I was going to build another 😂😂👍
Lovely little workhorses.

I do like the Billings African Queen but the cost does not include the cost to make it RC as there is an additional kit for RC.Would turn out to be a very expensive purchase but a wonderful boat to build.

Re-watched The African Queen for the umpteenth time last night and yes, found myself looking up the prices of the Billings kit. A short period lying in a darkened room and I was alright again! Lovely film though.

Excellent film, trouble is, I saw it when it was first released (and a few times since).

Watching the film Bill, does it get you to want to order and build 'Compass Rose' from Deans Marine?😁

The Cruel Sea.

Totally agree Neil.
Absolute classics, none of the computer generated films of today but good old fashioned reality.

Above us the Waves and We Dive at Dawn are my absolute favourites 😂
But agree The Cruel Sea is an absolute classic
Learning so much more with each reply to my posts. One day I may have a boat in the water 🤔

The Cruel Sea.

Had a trip down nostalgia street last evening.
Was at a loose end and with nothing decent to watch on the TV I put on The Cruel Sea to watch.
I have lost count of how many times I have seen it but it is still one of the best true to life Naval films I have seen for it’s time in my opinion.
Take care all.
