Model Boat Find.

Well I believe there are about 50 that are complete, but could be more as there are still parts of my store areas that haven't been accessed by me since 2013.
Allow that about 15% are in need of restoration or repair.
The models that I take to the vintage shows range from 1914 up to the 1990's .
Hopefully with a model built in each decade on display.
Only about half my models are ready to sail at present.
So plenty to keep me busy for a few years yet.
Cheers Colin.

There never too many, as long as you have room and enjoy the hobby.
I believe in helping those young people who show an interest in our hobby, so don't hesitate to ask if you need help (I'm pushing 72).
1 boat for each year of my life is my aim, so here's to a long life.

It's great to see another young person getting into this hobby. I was first introduced to it when I was nine when my parents bought me an RAF Crash Tender for my ninth birthday. I was helped with the build by my father and have been interested ever since. I hope 🤞 that your grandson also likes the hobby and stay with it. 🤞🤞 I would like to add that I'm now about 7 weeks from my 70th birthday and still enjoy both building (and as my wife would say) playing with my model boats. She says I have too many and shudders when I bring in another into the house.

Jacko,
I bet he enjoyed painting it.
He looks happy with his efforts.
Practice makes perfect.
Tell him to keep up the good work.

I seem to have started something here.
So good to see our Grandchildren getting involved and long may it continue.
Attached is a Picture of one of my other Grandson’s first attempt at boat building ( with help from his Dad and Grandad.)

Agreed the young today in some ways have lost the fun of being out doors or the hobbies we grew up with.I didn't build boats but did do model cars and planes and entered some in shows. The computer is great for finding information and good for us to talk to one another. When my club puts on a show the parents and kids love it and support us but we seldom get anyone new to come to our meetings. It's a shame but out hobbies are of an aging nature.ARE WE AGING DINOSAURS LOL Rick

I couldn't agree more Martin, my little mate spends all his spare time building with Lego or when his little sister isn't around he is starting to use my old meccano kits. About 12 kilos.
So whenever I visit there is always a new creation on display.
Modelling is a way of life that evolves, a bit like your creations.

Hi Colin,
It is a shame, I wish more kids would get involved in using their hands to making things instead of sitting at a computer playing games.

Thats another thing we have in common, my grandson loves model boats as well.
I am trying to teach him the basics of modelling, not easy as we live 30 miles apart.
He enjoys the shows and sailing my boats whenever he can.
Cheers Colin.

Dear All.
So off we went today with one of the Grandchildren to enjoy a post lockdown outing and visited Bicton Gardens just down the road from us near Budleigh Salterton in sunny Devon.
While the wife was off checking out the flower beds Grandson number three and I visited the agricultural museum in the grounds and found this little stash of model boats tucked away.
Managed a few pictures but sorry for the quality as that were taken on my phone.
Note the Perkasa P150.
They were all nice models and a credit to their builders.
Stay safe.
Regards Bill.
