Sails sewing

Really interesting presentation- I got a lot of ideas from it.
Never thought of using silkspan in that way. Used to use it in preference to tissue on planes.

Thank you for all the compliments guys. I was 21 when I had my first command in commercial sail, but boats, sailing and the sea have been a lifelong passion.

Sorry for the fopah Doug, but I'm sure the sail mistress won't mind. After all she truly is one of the '' guys '' when it comes to sailing knowledge.

It is normal to use the selvedge, ( the finished edge of the fabric) as the leach.

ok people put you thinking caps on, have sail cloth, cord (scale rope ?) and sewing cotton
so which way is the waft on the sails with the leach or the luff this is for my Thames Barge
