Probably cheap glue on the envelope and it fell out in the post.😁

Funny you should say that. I had a big fallout with Ron Dean when when I had the audacity to suggest that one of his shafts was bent.
He said he would replace it but only if I returned it for him to check to ensure I had not damaged it and was trying to get something for nothing. Didn't help when I called it threaded piano wire. Like you, I got some elsewhere. I didn't get a Christmas card from him last year, I don't know why.

Hi Richard,
Very nice indeed,
You have done a good job.

The only problem i have found with acrylic paint is if you are painting plastic.
It is a struggle to get the paint to take.
It will take a few coats before it starts to take properly.
And if you spray it you will have to give it a lot of very thin coats.
As it is water based it tends to pool on the plastic rather that having an even coat.

Hi Steve.
I bought the same. I was a little disappointed with some of the quality. Went all the way with motors and props but then faltered on prop tubes and shafts. Three shafts were bent. Deans said they would replace but I bought quality replacements myself as I did not want a repeat of the roughly cut off pieces of scrap they supplied.

New projects

Hello Martin, I have posted some pictures of my St Canute. As you will see I had a bit of a problem with the stern area. The hull is now complete and just waiting for the long process of sanding down and sealing the planked area which I will do during the summer months as I can get out to the porch area. At this moment in time I have just started the superstructure. I am using Humbrol paints and thought a silk grey would do nicely for the deck but the silk paint is a nightmare very translucent and hard to get a good even colour. I would not recommend Humbrol silk colours in the future.

One question I have would I be better to have purchased acrylic paint?

Stay sage guys
Richard

I used the Deans upgrade with 4 screws. Expensive, but worth it I thought.

Did you use 2 or 4 screws. Were they from Deans Marine?
Thanks.

New projects

Hi Steve.
I am sure I have seen this video on Youtube. Now I know who built it.
I hope I can build something similar. Yours looks superb.
I am pretty clumsy so I fear what you said about parts falling off. I will have to be careful.
Peter.👍😊

New projects

Hi MouldBuilder
I too built the 1/200 Hood with RC conversion last year.
I found the best upgrades to be the wooden deck and the metal gun barrels.
I also added a sound system and smokers.
Biggest problem - however careful I was, a visit to the pond always resulted in some form of damage, mainly to the railings and the antenna.
However, I thoroughly enjoyed the build and she really looks good on the water.
Have a great build
Steve

Hi Richard7,
Do you have any photos of your Billing Boats St Canute to show us. ?

Maybe you could start a build log.

We like seeing photos and videos of other members projects.

New projects

As far as new projects are concerned, I'm beginning to wonder how many boats I'll build before we can go and sail them again. I finished a crash tender about a fortnight ago. I am well into a Stumpy rigged Thames barge and will probably build a Dutch barge next. Then what, who knows. All depends on this isolation thing.

Let's all hope, Nerys

New projects

I plan to retire in the not too distant future so have purchased several projects whilst I still can. i also have a few on the go now.
I am just about finishing the Krick Police Launch.
I am half way through the Robbe Dusseldorf Fire Boat.
I am half way through a Revell Gato Submarine conversion to RC. I am working on the Water Tight Compartment at the moment.
I am refitting my first ever model I made 35 years ago of the Aerokits Patrol Torpedo boat.
New models to start after retirement are the Model Slipways 1:16 scale Tamar Lifeboat, The Trumpeter 1:200 Hood conversion to RC with all upgrades, the Aero-naut Diva and the Vintage Model Works Crash Tender.
I think all of these will keep me going for several years.👍

New projects

Hello Sir, l am pretty new to this art of model boat building but it was always my plan to start model boat building when l retired in 2015. As a youngster l was always in the model shop buying Airfix kits and Keilcraft balsa kits. My first project was the Billing Boats Norden, then l made the Billing Boats Boulogne Etaples which is RC, then the Aeronnaut Diva (RC). At present l am building the Billing Boats St Canute. I have enlisted the help from a great bunch of people on this web site who are very professional and have helped me Immensely.
Stay safe everyone.

New projects

Hello all I do hope every one is doing well under the stress of covid-19 but that's not what I would like to know.
I would like to find out what everyone is building.
For myself I started a new launch, the Miranda, got the plans a while ago for the project I had the steam plant from another boat, the Clyde puffer. I wanted to show the steam plant off and the puffer is a closed boat so in went a motor for the drive and out came the steam plant so now the Miranda shows off the plant.
I find I enjoy reading the posts and getting idea's from them, or just smiling after reading some of the posts .
