Morning Sid, l am not sure if you can fibreglass over the sealer, l cannot see logically why you can’t but hopefully the Admiral could help with that one? I do know you can apply fibreglass with the Delux Resin to obtain a smooth finish to the hull. I also think you can still download a brochure from the Delux products web site which might help.
Cheers

Hi Richard,Thank you for clearing that up for me. I have purchased the Delux sealer from my local Hobby Shop. Can you use Fiberglass resin over the sealer?

Sid, sorry to step in with your question to Doug but I thought I would let you know that I have used this Eze-Kote resin, it is similar to the Eze-Kote sealer. I used it on the hull of my Billing Boats Boulogne-Etaples fishing boat, its a great product. I use the sealer on the balsa to seal it and then a couple of coats of this resin which I used inside and outside of the hull, I will also use on my St Canute when ready. This is a link to the resin.

I have also attached a photo of the bottle.

Hi Sid,
I had the same problem with my Danish Fish Cutter Gina 2 from Billing.
See blog here-
https://model-boats.com/blogs/43305
I sealed the balsa stern block with Deluxe Materials Eze-Kote which is a water based resin.
Two coats diluted with about 20% water so it soaked into the balsa, then two or three coats pure to add strength and scratch and knock resistance.
There are two Deluxe Materials importer / distributors in OZ,
https://deluxematerials.co.uk/collections/distributors#australia
one should be able to tell where you can get some🤞

Trawler build

Hello Sid,
I am building a Billing Boats Tug ‘St Canute’ during this build l had major problems applying the planking to the stern. So l turned to my Pals on this website who advised blocks of balsa in place of the planks, carved and shaped. I have attached a picture of the stern and the balsa sealer l used. I found this sealer very good, it’s non toxic and you can use water to clean brushes. So far l have three Coates and it seems to harden the balsa and seal nicely. I then intend to apply primer and spray paint later. I am sure you will hear from the other very experienced chaps on this website with alternatives.
All the best from a wet and windy UK
