Hi Admiral,
I did try to help, and I thought that he was satisfied and was happy to control the amount of notifications that he was receiving.

That has surprised me.

Thanks JB, appreciate that.
Fortunately it's Boatshed's mysterious hull not Brian's, and I'm sure that Boatshed will stick with us and let us know what he decides to do with it.😉
It's the international contacts that make this site interesting for me too, not to mention the immense wealth of experience and knowledge available and freely dispensed.
To transliterate a popular German expression-
"Sometimes you just can't help someone to their luck."
All the best JB, Cheers, Doug 😎

Thanks for your efforts at mediation Doug, shame if Brian is leaving as we won't get to see what he does with the hull. It would be great if he could just go with the flow and enjoy the on line company, which is I'm sure why many of us old codgers (sorry slightly more senior members) are here, as our hobby is a slowly diminishing one (along with hobby shops etc), and like most things, it's not as much fun being the only one at the pond. At least we can share the 'events' (progress, launch day etc) with others .

Hi All,
Just seen from Brianaro in the Night Watch thread, from which I have deleted it because it was not in the spirit of that thread.
"XXX Health Warning!! XXX
This thread may cause increased blood pressure with uninitiated members!!
Good bye "
Shucks! Despite our best efforts somehow he still got it wrong☹️ and wandered into our JFF Night Watch thread.
Once again the old adage is proven-
"You can't please all of the people all of the time,
the best we can hope for is to please some of the people some of the time."
I wish him the best of luck in his search for whatever it is he wants and expects from a Internet forum created and maintained by human beings.
Cheers, Doug 😎

No sweat Martin, I think you've done us all a big favour👍
I had feared that this was yet another Dumphone / App glitch which would be a lot more difficult to cure! BRAVO ZULU that man!
(Order your 4th ring and warn the other half to hold the sewing box ready!)

I hope that Brian is now happy and will stay in the community🤞
Sure some of us have a bit o fun now an' again, why not?
Especially in Summer Slow News Weeks!
Others can avoid such threads if they wish.
Happy Coexistence All, above all Enjoy this great hobby😊

I just tried mine.
I just tapped the little switch and it turned grey and then about two seconds later the topic disappeared.

Tried that and it’s the same, the switch goes to off, the subject opens and the switch returns to on. Curious

Let me know how you get on.
The only thing to remember is when you post and don't want any reply you will have to go back in and switch off the thread/threads .

I mainly use an iPad and all I do it touch the little blue switch looking thing and that switches it off.
If I remember correctly the topic then disappears.

Thanks again, if I touch any area other than the button the item opens, I can’t swipe or touch and hold to close or delete

I think it's the "topics following" that you turn off.
Then you will not get notifications for those threads un less you post or comment.

Looking at the photo you just sent.
There is a green box at the top in the middle the word "accounts"
Click on that.
I have never looked at this site on a phone before so you might have to show me the next bit.

Hello Martyn
Im visiting the site on an iPhone and am unable to find any of the links you mention, I’ve clicked all of the links I can see but not found those you refer to (am I being daft?) am I missing something?

Hi Brian,
If you go to your profile page.
Then click on accounts.
Scroll down and on the right hand side you will see specific notifications.
Look down the list and you should find topics following.

Brian,
I have also moved this post of yours from my Night Watch thread-
"Mine are turned off but if you get involved with a thread when it is discossing a boat subject and the conversation changes to something completely different the notifications keep coming "

When you "get involved" in a thread it will be added to your "Specific Notifications" - "Topics Following" list, see attached screen clips. The lists are shown bottom right in your "Account".
If the thread wanders and you are no longer interested just delete it from this list by simply switching it off 😉
This seems to be a new feature of the revamped site which I hadn't noticed until now.
Thank you for bringing it to my attention.
Cheers, Doug 😎

Thank you for putting me right Admiral.
I do apologise Brian I did not realise that the profile page only shows one page.

Actually Martin Brian has been fairly active right from 1st June 2018.
Mostly Liked posts and PMs.
Member public Profiles only show "one page" of activity!
Don't ask me why!
Brian's longest thread was the saga of his Mtroniks ESC.
We never did find out the cause of the problem cos Mtronik just replaced it without comment!
Unless he cancelled them in his Account he would have received Notifications of all site activity (except other members PMs!) right from the get go.
Cheers, Doug😎

Hi Brian,
Sorry I missed a few words out in my previous post, what I meant was that you only started actually posting about three months ago. So have you only received notifications since then or have you always received them since you first registered?

Hi Brianaro,
I have moved this conversation to this thread.
Referring to my post:-
Hi Brian,
I think when the notifications keep coming then unfortunately it is just a case of filtering through them and only look at the ones that interest you.
I don't think there is any other way.

And your response:-
Hello Martin
You are absolutely right since yesterday I have ad 14 email notifications contains nothing of interest apart fro the couple of people sending them. It isn’t what my I don’t want my inbox filled neither do I want to read these things, unfortunately you have to in the hope there may be something useful there. As you can’t get involved with a discussion without all this as there isn’t a way to avoid fact muddled with ten times as much fiction I don’t think I’m prepared to pay a subscription any longer to receive this and will leave the site all together.

I noticed in your profile you joined this site on 1st January 2018 and from what I can see you only posted a comment three months ago.
So am I right in saying that you have started receiving these notifications since then ?.

I understand what you are saying but unfortunately this is the way this site works.
I can only imagine what my inbox would look like if I went on holiday for a week.

Unfortunately I can't think of an easy way around this. Unless it is possible for the site to be tweaked so that you have to say that you want to receive a notification in response to any action that you perform.

It will be a great shame if you were to leave this site as your skills and comments are appreciated.
