Ah...now we're back on track with this thread 😁
That's an ideal place for a hidden switch on a Crash Tender Graham 👍👍

Great Martin already checking out you tube. This opens up a whole new field in modelling for me. Looks like it will model building during the day and Arduino night school in the evening.
Am committed with all my electronics in the Milford Star on this build. But am sure will try the arduino on my next build.

Excellent Elsrickle,
I think you will find it very interesting.
You will also see that you can get different size boards.

If it looks right it probably is.

Nice.
I have only learnt enough Arduino programming to do very simple stuff.
I really need to learn more as the Arduino board is a very cleaver gadget and Is capable of far more.

Thanks Martin will check them out. Am just starting to get involved in adding the electronics to my models, makes them more interesting and a bit of a challenge
and maybe save space.

Brilliant Martin, great use of technology. Pity more people who have fancy TXs don't use the full capability of those as well as control boards to control various functions using the programming. I've used my 9XR to do a number of things at once on planes such as setting up elevons and elevator to work together, flaps to come down slowly in tiny steps then go up smoothly at a faster speed, aileron and rudder working together etc.
Saw an article in a model mag in which a guy was telling someone that the flashing lights on his plane were the work of his Taranis TX and not an on board module, which pushed me to play with settings and programmes.
I made an experimental ducted fan quad controlled using a digital screen push button KK board (pic) which is a neat item. Arduinos have a better range of functions I think and are common in quad copters etc as you would know.

Hi,
If you type in Arduino on utube you will see lots of videos on the subject.
Allso there are a lot of really good tutorials that teach you how to learn the programming.
After a short time you will be able to write your own programs to do what ever you want it to do.

This sounds very interesting haven’t worked with that system. Am just switching with relays from action. Any links where I can learn more about this type of set up.

The lighting is controlled by an Arduino PCB.
That way I can rewrite the program at any time.
If I want a certain light to stay on longer And another to switch off and then go on again say two seconds later then it is easy just by changing the code a little.

That’s a great job with a lot of light. How are they all switched.

Hi John,
Yes they all work.
It was a little tricky to wire them up but I linked all the - wires to a pole down the centre of the mast, and the LED,s on the spars have the - leg soldered to the brass spars so that I only had to hide the + wires.
That halved the total amount of wires.

That's a fancy bunch of lights you have there Martin! Do they all work or are some display only? Could imagine a big wiring loom in there!

Hi Doug,
Thanks for that.
Here are some close ups of the main mast of Cottesmore.
The colour and positioning of the lights are from photos and drawings.
I am going to have to rewrite my Arduino code for mine hunting mode.
That is another mod I will eventually get around to doing.

Hi Martin,
"After seeing the way you Guys have hidden the switches, I keep thinking that I should of done this or that.
Luckily when I resume work on HMS Cottesmore I plan on making some changes with the wiring so I will also change the switch arrangement."

While researching Marine Nav Lights I ran across this see pic, which you might consider while fiddlin' with your wiring! Don't get lit up 😉

I have just added a blog update on my Thames Poilice Launch where I have added some instrumentation detail around the 'Steering Wheel' power switch just to pretty it up a bit.

I must admit it is very clever how you have done it, maybe in future I should think a bit more before hand.

Another switch I often hide is for the receiver binding. I cut the wire on the bind plug and extend wires to connect onto a small cheap slide switch which I fit in a convenient place. No more searching for and fitting bind plugs, just move the switch to bind then switch off afterwards.

Under the engine room vent / skylight on my destroyer Martin.
I did have them in the ready ammo box on the AA gun deck, to the right of the current position in the pics. But that became a P in the A 😠 when I needed to remove the decks, so I moved them to an alu bracket under the deck.
Yeah I know, she badly needs cleaning☹️

Hidden switches.

Hi Guys,
After seeing the fantastic job that Robbob has done on his Thames River Police Launch, and the way he has hidden the main switch I thought that I would start this thread.
There must be lots of ways to hide switches.
I have a few ideas my self but I would like to hear about the different ways you guys have hidden yours.
