Hi Steve.
A fair point about size and weight, I keep mine in a wheeled flight case, I wouldn't want to carry it from the car park to the lakeside!
I hope to run the boat in the spring when there's good weather and water level in the St Albans lake.....and some other club members are there too just in case I need a rescue boat as it will be the boats first proper 'sea trial'.
Once I have a date in mind I'll try to remember to let you know!

Hi Steve.
There are two companies making crash tender kits.
Firstly there's Vintage Model Works' run by Mike Cummings who make the 47" model that I made, and secondly there is 'The Vintage Model Boat Company' who make the 34.5 inch version that you are referring to.
Confusingly, both kits are actually made by SLEC Ltd who have the CNC manufacturing facility!
The 'Vintage Model Boat Company' was bought by SLEC Ltd in the recent past and it seems there's no conflict of interest because the two companies are producing and selling two different size models.
I think the VMV 47" is better value because, although a larger model, it does include all the perspex glazing, window frames, hull lettering and decals and good quality white metal fittings....more bang for your buck in my opinion.
I think the 47" kit is about £250.

BTW.
I've seen your tug build blog...looks good so far, keep up the good work 👍.
Best Regards.

Hi Steve.
Sorry for the late response,I have only just seen your PM.
I'm very flattered that you are taking the time to read my build blog and delighted that you are finding it helpful. The crash tender is a great model to build and run and is a very popular choice, there's a new build blog on this site by mturpin013 of a VMW crash tender that I'm following that looks very promising. if you do decide to go ahead do please consider doing your own blog, you will get a lot of encouragement and advice (some good and some less so !) but above all a great sense of achievement and pride in your skills when you complete it. Mention to Mike Cummings (VMW) that we chatted at the show 😉.
Very best regards. Rob.

Tug

Looks great... was it expensive? I have not built a tug yet.... was it relatively straight forward to build. Thank

I am desperate to find a plan or box cover art or photos of the wheelhouse of the original kit. Despite what people say, there were marked differences between the original kit and the one on sale now. So please can anyone help
