Thank you all.
I have managed to modify a davit from macs mouldings that looks about right. I will be painting it soon, so will post a picture when it's done.

Fireboat

HI All
I have been trying to complete a fire-boat that was started by a friend of the family, when he was a boy many years ago. He started it with his Dad, but never completed it. My father-in-law then took over, but unfortunately passed away soon after. Now it is up to me to finish it for them. I have found most things I need, using info from your site, but I'm having trouble finding a spray paint in battleship grey! There are plenty of grey paints for cars(real ones) but don't know which to choose. Also can I buy a 1/16 scale davit, or do I have to make one? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Mark.
HI Mark,
Pete D here Fireboat Funday organiser, the correct colour you require for the model is BS 631 grey, this is shown as the designated colour on the Vosper Thornycroft drawing,
most shops that sell paint should be able to mix it for you even in aerosol.
Regards, Pete.

I have used the Halford's rang of car paint as they have a vast range. Also the Humbrol range is good source. Don't forget when/if you protect the paint with varnish the colour may be a little darker. Your local boat club or modelshop may be of help or get the correct colour on the net. Have a go at building things for your boat as thats what it is all about

As an after thought stick to same types of paint don't mix

Fireboat

Hi, with regard to paint, I have used Halfords grey primer finished off with a clear coat on my 3 fireboats and also my Model Slipway Kawkab. This seems to be a good match.
On the Davit front, Model slipway do a complete fittings set at 1/16th scale but don't sell the parts separately. if the Davit is all you need, I suggest you make your own. I did this for my 1/24th boat from plastic sheet and brass rod with good results. Good luck.
