Propshafts

Thanks for that Dave will use the shafts I have.
To tell you the truth, I didn't think it was my birthday, I was kicking myself that I had just bought one when I came across the one in a skip at my local council dump, especially with the one in the skip is in better condition than the other I bought!!!!Funny old world isn't it, but at least I will have twice the fun if there is an end to all the sanding down of household gloss paint!!!!! 😛

Propshafts

HI Slipway.
It must have been your birthday to find two projects at the same time!
My crash tender has a skeg supporting the prop shaft so I used a closed shaft. No reason why your open shaft shouldn't work if it will fit and allow the motor and prop to ride at the correct angle.

Propshafts

HI guys, I have rescued two 34 Inch crash tenders, which I am starting to restore, got one from ebay and the other from a skip at my local rubbish dump, but at the moment they are more like firewood than fireboat especially with extensive use of 1960's hardboard to make the cabin tops and window frames on one of them.
One has no propshaft, the hole Is there but Its bunged up with something and the other has aluminum tube fitted with a aluminum 'P' bracket but the tube Is bent so will have to be replaced. I have two 10inch open shafts and 'P' brackets would these be acceptable to fit or should I purchase closed shafts and fit those Instead.
