Bill, That does help but the few things that I would need to know, 1. What is the weight, 2. Where is it coming from in the UK. Do you have any access in finding the info for me. I do have a friend who lives in London but they are in the US at this time.

I am very interested. Could I ask you a favor, what would it cost shipping from UK to Portland, Oregon, USA?

USCG 44'

Good morning, What are you asking for the 44 MLB? I'm a retired 44' boat Coxswain and Engineman. I also have the use of a full size 44 with the Sea Scouts, former 44331, here in Portland Oregon, USA

Get well

I hope you get better news going forward.
I just finished beating cancer. I know it can be a tough struggle, but I wish you strength in battling your illness. We all live in rooms of experience that some may never enter.

I live in Victoria BC Canada so any larger items would be to costly to ship, however I would like to see some figurines and the scale.

I suspect it was a site system glitch as the problem is now cleared.
Sage man your instructor!
Glad to hear your system is OK.
Thanks

Multiple posts

I help with the site admin and had noticed your last two posts were reposting every few minutes. I have now allowed the posts to remain and will ask Stephen (Fireboat) to investigate.
I suspect the problem is with the site so please ignore my previous message.
Your models look rather fast, do you intend to post some video on water pics.

Radio Remote control gear

Hello Dave
Thanks for that useful explanation - what happened is I used this Acoms set (from Ebay) and just tried it out on a boat with a Futaba receiver already set up.
So in effect I hadn't set up the Acoms set with the Esc (Viper Mtronics 20A).
This may (?) account for the trim adjustment I had to make in order to stop the motor running!
I will be installing the complete Acoms equipt into a new boat shortly so I'm hoping it will function properly.

Radio Remote control gear

HI Pete
Futaba leads have a small plastic tab that fits into the receiver slots. This is a proprietary system designed to make sure you plug the lead in the correct way. if you wish to use a Futaba plug with other receivers (Non Futaba) then you need to carefully remove the tab with a sharp scalpel. The plug can then be used with other receivers as well as Futaba.
What ESC are you using? Depending on the type you need to set up the ESC to your radio set with the control set to neutral. Many ESC's will auto set-up on switch on so make sure you center your throttle stick and trim before you switch on. if you advise your ESC I will explain in more detail.

Radio Remote control gear

Hello Dave,
Having just acquired an Acoms handset and receiver I find that a Futaba servo will not plug into the Acoms receiver! Slightly different shape plug casing.
That apart, seems I have to have the trim lever pushed all one way to prevent the prop from moving when not touching the controls?
Is there another adjustment?

Radio Remote control gear

HI Peteg
The simple answer is yes. However, will the servos centre align in respect to the transmitter? Possibly. in the early days of R/C many manufacturers used their own version of the pulse width - the part of the signal that determines the servo neutral point. in many cases this varied by 0.5 ms either side of 1 ms. Early Futaba sets used 1.2ms as their centre point so the neutral was offset with non Futaba servos. Additionally the output signal voltage (difference between the on / off pulses) was lower on some Futaba sets. This was more of a problem with ESC's but could affect servos generally.
Modern equipment appear to be much more standardised and I use any variant with my transmitters (Futaba, Acoms, Hitec) without problem. Sanwa sets used to use receivers with the positive and negative pins reversed to the rest of the manufacturers, so would need some modification to the pin connections.
When the centering was a problem I used to open the servo case, slacken off the potentiometer holding nut and adjust to correct. Servos are now so cheap it is really not worth the effort.
Finally if you are using your equipment in a high speed large model in a very public area I personally would use original servos to avoid the possibility of any risk.
Hope this helps

Can anyone tell me If I can mix and match Acoms transmitter with Futaba servo's and receiver or any combination thereof please?
Thanks,
PeteG.
