Fireboat prop

HI BikerJohn
Welcome to the site.
db appears to be helping you so you are in good hands. Original Fireboat kits had a built in slot as db says but if yours doesn't then a vertical hole at the correct distance from the transom (stern) can be elongated (by file) to take the prop shaft at the correct angle. I use epoxy glue to fill the slot but car body filler works just as well. Good luck

ok
if your boat is an "original Aerokits" boat? ... the hole for the propshaft is already there! by design!
the main keel was supplied in two pieces.. the piece from the bow to the prop shaft.. and the piece from the propshaft to the transom. a pair of keel "doublers" were glued either side of the gap in the keel where the propshaft passes through the hull...

so the hole should already be there and should just want "easing" with a round file to accept the propshaft of your choice.

send me a private message and I will send you the relevent part of the original plan so you can measure back from the transom to the "existing" hole

Fireboat prop

Hello members another newbie here seeking assistance. I need help with fitting a single propshaft to a
1/16 wooden hull fireboat. Do I
1;Try and drill a angled hole up through the end of the keel.
2; Cut the keel off and cut a long slot, fit the prop shaft and fill.
3; Mount the propshaft to the underside of the keel. But doing It this way would surely require a very long shaft and
move the motor too far forward ?
Or am I missing the point and there Is a easier way.
