Sure did Ed! I'm on the second glass now 😉 Down the hatch!
I'm down to the 3000 grit now - just about to start the gloss coats.
Sorry Steve 🤔 this has nowt to do with Ranking 😲
Glad to see you found some inspiration in my graphics though👍
Will continue with an updated Build Blog later.

I know Nitro Pro funny name for a PDF reader.
But it works nicely!

I hand the pleasure of cutting thin strips.
of plastic to put on the stack of my current boat!
I'm not even going to take a picture of these strips.
You can't even see them!😭😭😭

Guess the Nitro makes it 'Go Faster' Ed 😉
Main thing is the guys can open the files without fear of any nasties.

BTW: First coat of primer varnish is on, when it's dry (about a glass of French Rose long 😜) I'll flat back with a 2000 grit sanding sponge and start with the gloss lacquer! Cheers Doug 😎

PS here's a PDF version 😉
Open the same way as for the XL file.
Ciao Doug 😎
PPS: its not an Adobe file! I use Nuance Power PDF. They work with Microsoft and don't have the security weaknesses that Adobe reader has. 👍😉

Hi MT, to open the XL file-
Left click on the XL image,
A new view opens with Close top right and Download top left,
Left click on 'Download' and IF you have Excel (or compatible spreadsheet app) installed it will automatically open the file. Or Windows will ask you if you want to Open or Save the file. To just view left click on Open. You can then 'Save as' if you wish.
Handy users, usually without Office, XL, Word & Co on board are of course 'Up the Creek without an Excel' 🤔

Although a relatively new member and with no naval background at all I can only agree with the more informed, and thanks for the hard work that goes into maintaining a website like this its really appreciated.

Ranking System

Hi All, see the attached proposal for the new ranking levels and insignia. Logos will become square, so I've tried my best to replicate any official insignia into the bounds of a square logo. Hopefully these will be understandable. in general, the more stripes the higher the rank. Also black backgrounds are higher ranking than blue backgrounds.

Let me know what you think.

The scoring will remain at 1000, although there will be changes to the worth of posts, likes etc. So at some point later in the year all members will be given a new rank against the new structure.

Thanks for the feedback so far.

Stephen

My thought would be. Keep the Admiral rank at 1000, then go up in 500 increments from 3rd to 1st Sea Lord, possibly ending with Grand Admiral? or adding Admiral of the Fleet at the top? Just a thought

Ranking System

Hi All, 1st, 2nd and 3rd Sea Lord is an option but we'd have to invent some insignia. 😉
1st Sea Lord is usually an Admiral of the Fleet, occasionally 'just' an Admiral, as the current one Sir Philip Jones.
2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th (yep there are so many 😲 all with different departments such as Logistics, Fleet Air Arm etc) are all various 'minor' Admirals with no specific seniority.
Poster and Excel file of RN Ranks (& equivalent NATO Codes) and suggested 'Rankings' attached.
20 ranks as in your original list Fireboat.

Hi Smiffy, Admiral of the Fleet indeed is correct, but was shortened deliberately to reduce the length of the text. in some areas of the website it's too long to display properly.

1st, 2nd and 3rd sea lord is a viable option. Will see what others come up with too 😎

How about dropping the military and Air Force ranks ( sergeant major, warrant officer and squadron leader , but I don’t want to upset the Marines!) and replace at the top with 1st, 2nd and 3rd Sea Lord. As a very new member of the forum it seems to me that some members have been contributing for a very long time and deserve more promotion. By the way, the correct British naval rank for the current top rank is Admiral of the Fleet, is it not.

Ranking System

Hi All, right now there's a chance to update the ranking system on the website. It won't be updated until later in the year, but I'd like to give you all a chance to comment on the attached restructuring.

The only thing that is important, is that we have 20 different ranks. I don't mind if we mix US and UK, or ranks from different forces, provided it makes rough logical sense.

Please submit your opinions and amendments below.

Many thanks,
Stephen
