Bench sander

Thanks for the info. I suspect the mod I intend may need me to dismantle the whole unit. I don't trust the stick on discs so will replace with velcro types.
I agree the disc can be fitted with the plate in place and for the price it's cheap and cheerful and will certainly save some elbow grease.

A WARNING when removing the plate be aware that one of the captive nuts may drop off inside. However the casing is easily undone to lift the motor to recover the nut. Using a bolt to line it up put it back in place with a drop of glue Super glue has been used. I believe successfully. Then close the case with the 4 screws and replace the plate. You don't really need to remove the plate anyway to replace the disc. Just damp plate and disc with a cloth with water with a suspicion of Fairy in it .Press the disc in place and allow to dry.The water allows the disc to be positioned more easily.

Bench sander

I just got one from Lidl at Middlewich. Had several in stock.
Neat small machine that takes up little room so good for bench work. Good selection of sanding disks. They are stick on type so will replace with a better fixing type.
It works ok and for small modelling work will be ideal. I may make a new plate as the existing one sits too far from the disk but for the money its a good buy.

Going to try and get my self one to-day, they look just about right size for my garage workshop👍.
That's all right, Mr Ryan. My Morse is so rusty, I could be sending him dimensions on Playmate of the Month.
