Picture upload failure.

Well Doug, my PC is an industrial multi drive server unit, with individual drives for LINUX, WIN 3.1, XP, MILLENNIUM, VISTA, AND WIN 10. All usable, as I have loads of old software. The only thing lacking is a decent drawing package. it's quite a big unit and weighs in at 19.4 kilos. But totally reliable and I can switch between systems easily, (don't ask me how it works, my nephew supplied it and set it up, he's my IT support.) By the way the phone as been cleared and rebooted to factory settings and all my apps reinstalled. 64gb memory installed, plus phone memory of 8gb. Only this site plays up.
Cheers Colin.

OK Understand, is it a Desktop? Maybe a Laptop or Notebook (or even tablet?) would be more practical?
I live in a small maisonette, 75m², living room, bathroom and kitchen at ground level. Two sides of the kitchen have become my 'workshop'!
A small room in the cellar has become my bedroom (just call me troglodyte!)
Garage is communal so can't do much with it apart from temp stashing stuff on its way to the recycling centre. I'm running out of space for the models 🤔 (shelf / vitrine building plan in progress) but the PC is permanently installed on my desk in the living room, close to the phone cable wall sockets. Modelling dictates!!
I still think your main problem with the HT17 phone is incompatibility of Android 6 and the method the MB website uses to process uploads. Seem to recall reading about this snag in the Android 7 development and release notes. Hope Stephen can find time to investigate this cos I don't think you are alone with this problem 🤔
Good luck, Doug 😎

Picture upload failure.

Hi Doug , I live in small 1 bedroom bungalow for the elderly. So space for computer and associated stuff not available. I usually keep it in the attic in the winter months, but when weather gets warmer it goes in my workshop/garage.

Hi Colin, this is the sequel to
https://model-boats.com/forum/anything-website-related/32207
isn't it?
I don't think you will ever solve this snag with your HT17.
It's simply not man enough (processor and memory) for the job and also I don't think that Android 6.1 is compatible with the algorithm which the site uses to upload photos. 🤔 This I believe to be the main problem. You would need at least Android 7, and then we are back to the problems you had in the above thread 😭
Why do you keep packing your PC away and then having to set it up again??
That would drive me round the bend the first time I had to do it 😡
Sorry for the bad news but I think you are 'swimming against the tide'.
Cheers Doug 😎

Hi Colin
I think we had a similar discussion last year regarding this problem.
You mention an app not letting you upload or reply to PMs. I suspect it's this app which is causing the problem. Have you tried uninstalling and re-installing as it could have become corrupted?
If that doesn't work you need to report the symptoms to the app designer and ask foe a fix.
Stephen (Fireboat) may be able to help as he may be able to see the reason on the website stats reports.
Hope you can find a solution.

Picture upload failure.

Hi Dave, thanks for your input.
I only have this problem when using my smart phone, which is on Android 6.1.
The phone is an HT17 purchased six months ago. This is the only website I have difficulties with uploads. All pictures are taken using this phone, but the app won't let me upload or reply to PM's. if I use the browser and go to website I still can't upload but can reply to PM's. Using my PC works okay but its a hassle getting it out and setting up. Thanks for your help Colin.

Hi Colin
The apps you can upload to all compress your files.
Can you provide details of one of the pics ie file size, format.
What is the spec of your PC? ie Speed, memory, hard disk size. What is your operating system? Which browser are you using? Do you have any Virus protection etc?
What internet connection do you have?
There could be a whole raft of reasons why you are having problems and without more info it's difficult to give advice.
One thought, if your successful uploads are all at a particular time of the day it could be your internet speed connection.
Try running Speedtest by Ookla to check your speed http://www.speedtest.net/

Picture upload failure.

I can only manage to upload about 1 in100 attempts. I'm using an android phone on Android 6.1.
I can send photos by email and WhatsApp without any problems. I can also upload to sales sites, such as eBay and schpock., Gumtree.
Just this site won't let me upload. The app and the website from my browser have the same problem.
Any help would be appreciated, cheers Colin.
