Huntress - Rudder

Andy

Being a Fairey Marine model fan you've got me intrigued.

Are you drawing up your own plans from scratch?

Unless you're a stickler for getting the details right the easiest way is as you say to move the rudder inboard and use the usual rudder tube. On the Huntress the external rudder assembly is pretty much hidden by the steps anyway.

just cut a slot in the transom and move the tiller inside the boat. if your worried about water make a compartment to contain any water that enters. The design attempts to reduce the possibility of water entering via the rudder tube.

I have no problems, currently as I have not built the model. Just working on the plans. My concern was that one has to have effectively a hole in the hull for the tiller arm to enter. Just not sure how I am going to do it yet. Was looking for advice, if someone else had built this sort of setup.

if the tiller arm is exposed you can either use a closed loop and hide the servo or accept your going to see a control arm and pushrod for a simpler install. Other than that it works what exactly are the problems you have?

Huntress - Rudder

A Fairey Huntress has a Rudder system where the Rudder, and the Rudder 'post' are outside the Hull, located on the transom. With the operating arm going into the hull.

Has anyone had experience of this sort of set up on a model ?

I know that the normal way round it is to fit a Rudder in the usually way, i.e. through a tube located through the keel.
