By the way; I chickened out on the 3D oilers and decided to do it the traditional way by soldering the tubes on, much quicker an' I got lots o' brass! I'll save the filament for the 50 cals😊

Total length max 4.2cm. Ta ever so😊
Re raising V2 ramp; simplest could be a servo driven cam.
Somewhere in my stash I have a couple of business gift gizmos!
Cellphone holders that react to incoming calls and lift the phone!
I also planned to use them for missile launch ramps.
I'll try and dig 'em out and see how the mechanism works and how we can trigger it; without having to phone it!!
Cheers Doug

I'm not sure how I'll raise the V2 yet, I'll have to do some research.....

Don't forget the red flicker LEDs to illuminate the smoke on the V2, and of course the appropriate sound VERY LOUD!!😊 Servo and push rod to raise the launch ramp or hydraulics??
Re 50 cals: Don't need the tripods, I plan to mount 'em in tubs on the PT Boat. Don't want to bust your filament budget 😉 so the stl file would be fine. Many thanks.
Video of the V2 printing, complete with anguished face of the creator?😉
Cheers Doug 😎
PS what scale are your 50s?

The 50 cals print in 2 halves with a tripod so you can mod them to your hearts content. if you can let me know how long they are from end of barrel to the back of the grip I'll print you a few off, I'll even send you the stl so you can have a play.
The base of the V2 only just fits corner to corner on the bed, so it will be scary watching it getting right to the corners..
I'm not planning on flying it, I'll build a launch platform & a truck to pull it all, should freak out the local tank guys😂
I might just put a smoke generator in it to scare people...

Was beginning to worry that you had bought your second 3D printer and the carbon fibre vest didn't withstand the attacks of SWMBO 🤔
LCM looks great👍
Are you going to fit the 'Doodle Bug' with Jetex (the senior members amongst us may remember that) and a flap valve for the characteristic sound??
V2 at 1/16; Length 87.5cm, Width (diameter) 10.3cm.
Not so big in my terms, but BIG for a 24cm printing table!!
Bon chance mon ami! Cheers Doug 😎
PS: water power or solid fuel for the V2?? When I was about 7 (1958) my Dad brought me a water powered 2 foot model of the Thor missile back from the States; pump pump pump ....... WHOOSH .... and gently back to earth on a parachute. I was KING of the block 😊
PPS: love the 50 cals👍 Can you do me two twin mounts at 1/35? 😉

I'm well underway printing a Tiger 1 tank to go on it (just) I'm just suffering death by tracks, I've over 200 to fettle & fit together.
I've just finished printing a 1/16 scale V1 flying bomb & Ive just started on a 1/16 scale V2, it's a big bugger!!!

I've been trying to work out a way to lift the ramp, ended up putting a hole through each of the parts of the upper hull & putting a 2mm I/d tube through, it's all coming together nicely now. I ended up reprinting the ramp, call me a snob, but I figured it should be the same colour as the rest of the boat.

I wasn't happy with the ones that are printing on the LCM3, I found these, altered the scale so that the bottom flange is 20mm diameter & they fit the bill perfectly.
Found the file on thingiverse

A channel called Makers Muse run by a young Australian chap is very informative.
To get started you download the required STL file or files for what you want to make from Thingiverse, you'll need a programme to manipulate the STL file in that also creates the gcode file that the printer uses. I use a programme called Slic3r yes Slic3r, it's quite easy to use, there are plenty of others, I'm told Acura is good also.
In the programme you put in the printing parameters you want to use, layer height, speeds etc, you can rotate the object to how you want to print it & then hit export gcode. That file goes onto the SD card which you put into the printer.
You hit print file on the printer menu & you sit back admiring all your hard work.
I know I've simplified it a lot but it's nothing you can't pick up off YouTube & a 30 minute call to me, I'd gladly help anyone👍
