When looking for books, I always check on www.bookfinder.com. it's an especially good source if you are happy to have a used book.

The books suggested are a good starting point but like most things electronic the modern equipment is far different from that seen in most books on the subject.
The basic principles may be the same but the Tx/Rx will be from the period when the book was originally published.
As well as the books suggested it might help if you were to buy a copy of Model Boats or Marine Modelling international to see what is currently available and how current kit is used and installed.
It can be daunting when you first start out but you can always post a topic on the Forum to seek help.

Its the 4th edition by John Cundell I have seen it on Amazon and may get a better copy than the running repair ,being a total novice I have found it a very good read

asked in the local library if they had any books on radio control and they had a damaged radio controlled scale boats that had been taken out of circulation without covers a few missing pages and someones notes in the margins ,so a donation of 50 pence secures the tatty item ,some TLC with some tape and an old cornflake box and it looks slightly more book like than it did

I use Amazon quite a lot for books...it's worth noting that eBay can sometimes be expensive for books, I always check Amazon as well because you can save ££££££'s....purchased one today that was twice the price on fleabay :-)

Not the absolute latest publication but covers all the basics. Specific equipment info. can be updated via the forums and/or model shop sites / catalogues.
