If you have no radio gear consider the taranis 16 channels free mixing and excellent range.

Right now you will have no use for that many control functions BUT sooner or later you will want more, ( turning on and off sounds, lights, fire monitors, radar scanners etc.) You could steer the fire monitor so it would be possible to sail up to small boys then SQUIRT them !!!!!!

Thanks Lads,as regards the kit it is the Aerokits model,the original plans show only on propeller,so I would like to stick with this.There is a boat club near me in Tynemouth.so I'll pay them a visit.Yes I will build more boats,I'm hooked now,I'll check out the radio gear like you say

Welcome to the site.
Mark has already given you some very useful general advice but to be more specific it would help if we knew a bit more about you and your model crash tender.
The original models were made by Aerokits in the 1960's but there are now more recent versions. if it is a new kit there are probably guidance notes re number of props etc.
As this is your first build are you a complete novice builder, or have you constructed other types of models?
Are you a member of a model boat club? it can be very helpful to be able to ask other model boaters when you first start building. There is a list of clubs on this site, so if any are near to you I suggest making contact. it will also give you an opportunity to see other models and the Radio equipment before making your choice.
We all started modelling at some time so there is a wealth of helpful information on the site and our members are always willing to share their experiences and offer solutions, so may I reiterate Mark's message about asking questions.

Hi Joe, just a few possibilities, is the tender completed? if not I would go for twin shafts with brushless motors, the hull where the shafts will go through would need reinforcing with 1/8 ply between the bulkheads to give the shafts some firm base to glue to and stop any distortion and fracturing of the hull floor. The motors I would suggest a pair of 30 / 40 size, most motors are intended for plane use so are often referred to in the engine size .30 ci, or .40ci, sound complicated but its not. As for radio gear, how far do you want to go!!! cheap bottom end gear starts at around £30 plus servos and speed controllers, as this is your first model, are you likely to build more???? if so I would go for higher speck gear, my choice is Futaba, but it is expensive, you are going to get lots of suggestions, have a look at the web sites and then buy what you fancy, (dont buy 2 or 3 channel, get a minimum of 6, this will allow for more functions as your modeling progresses) This is bound to though up loads more questions for you, dont be afraid to ask, mistakes can be expensive!!!!
