Fireboat Paint

HI Mark no I didit use enamel it was all acrylic. I think ur right about the paint reaction may be down to two different makes of acrylic paint to have a paint reaction but I dont know if thats the case so im sticking to one make of paint .

Fireboat Paint

Hi Alan, thanks for the info about the textured grey, will nip in tomorrow,

Cliff, sounds like a paint reaction, did you use enamel paint??? with the gelcoat that will act as a barrier, but if you use acrylic paint you will be ok, just get a good key to the surface. don't sand to hard as you will go through the epoxy, if needed use the primer surface, then sand smooth, its all down to how good the base is when you put the gloss coats on

Fireboat Paint

Mark is right, gloss red and gloss black. Halfords do a nice grey textured spray can that makes a good non slip deck, (needs shaking well) then a couple of light dusting coats of clear lacquer to seal and it also makes it easy to clean. Lacquer also from Halfords.

Fireboat Paint

Hi Cliff, I think the red and black of the hull would have been gloss, pride in the ship but also a gloss finish allows the hull less friction through the water, the deck would probably have a matt non-slip finish, to allow the crew to pass mooring lines etc without risk of falling in.

Hope this helps

Fireboat Paint

Hi I have being looking in the plans & Docs of the fireboat in this website am I right or wrong is the paint on fireboat is allways glass or matt ? when I look at the pic of the fireboat it does not look like its glass paint on boat it looks like matt paint ? I know the pic is black and white but you can still see the glass in the paint of the pics even if there black and white.
