strip the wires and tin each.

That way when you join them you have a prepared surface.

don't forget to slip some sleeving on BEFORE
you solder two wires together ( obvious I know but I have done it and I am sure many many more have )

if you use heat shrink your soldering iron will shrink it so it grips tight.

OHHHHHHH and do please try not to burn your fingers , a usefull tip is to get someone else to hold the wires.

I looked at the connector on a blog building this kit and searched for similar servos.

The connector is used by Spektrum on their sub micro range.

That being the case I would place bets on the adaptor fitting!

if you have a servo plug and lead included and you feel confident then go ahead and cut slip a length of sleeve on then solder so you can pull the sleeve over the joint then shrink it into place.

Just looked at the price with postage so will try another tack. I found standard plug with wires in the bottom of the box, never really noticed it before. Will try Daves idea of solder and sleeve.

Might just order one just to see if it works. soldering is my least good skill 😭

JST connectors come in many different sizes and I use them when connecting electronic boards together with wires, using the plugs and sockets. The pins and pitch vary greatly and I'm not sure that the suggested plug will fit. The design is for a self locking plug and socket that keeps the connection solid.
Not sure if you have a servo plug with wires attached. They are available and an extension lead can be cut in half. With a standard servo lead the easiest solution would be to cut off the JST connector, part the three wires then sleeve and solder to the wires attached to the servo plug, brown (to black), red to (red) and orange (to white). The servo wires appear to be similar to the standard Hitec colours.

Have a look will connect your JST-ZHR plug to a normal servo plug.

I had a hunt around the web and it looks like the servo is from some kind of ready to run package. Get a servo plug and pins. Then you can find out how well you solder.

is that the same servo?

That sounds as though the kit maker expected you to use a different rx/tx set.

Have you tried contacting them to ask what they recommend for a setup?

That's unusual, some used to have the wires in a different order ie Sanwa, you just unclipped them and swapped them round.

Thanks for the info. I will have to change the plug as it is a completely different pin spacing than standard. Now I have the colours I should be ok.

For future reference there are the common servo wire colours

Brown is black,red is red,orange is white. No need to change the plug usually. if there's an extra piece of plastic that prevents it going into the reciver. Trim it off.
