I’ve never tried one of those plastic welding guns, but for assembling 3D-printed parts, you might also want to try a good-quality CA glue made specifically for plastics.
A medium-viscosity CA gives you a little working time, fills small imperfections, and is much easier to control on the small parts we deal with in ship modeling.
For larger structural joints, I’ve had good results with 5-minute epoxy.
The nice thing about CA is that you can apply it precisely with a fine applicator and avoid turning the model into a melted-plastic experiment! 😄
