Michael, found on the internet. I took the liberty to pull a photo of the boat in the movie and of a LCM (5) model for comparison. Looks like the LCM (5) is what they used for the 1971 movie. BTW, the movie ("Murphy's War) and various clips are available on line some places. The film is set in Venezuela during World War II and focuses on Murphy (Peter O'Toole), is a stubborn survivor of a sunken merchant ship who is consumed in his quest for revenge and retribution against the Nazi German submarine that sank his ship and slaughtered the survivors.

Hi LewZ,
I’d be curious to know where you got all those old photos...
Are there any more of that old tub? It looks really run-down...

Murphy's war it is! The photo was from a TV shot I took years ago. That was on 35mm slide film on a black and white TV. Ran it through Chatpgt to enhance, then sharpen then colorize it. Big difference! That led me to a sight called "https://www.modelshipsinthecinema.com/" which I didn't know existed and some of you might be interested in. Going back to Murphy's War, I read that the boat he lowered the torpedo from was actually LCT Mark-V. Don't know if I agree on that as the movie boat looked much shorter. Any thoughts?

Ram the sub video link:

On Wiki: German U-boat (submarine) was played by a Venezuelan submarine, the former USS Tilefish (SS-307).

Although the Balao class sub in the film is a far cry from a Type 1X U-Boat. But game effort nonetheless by the production crew. 😉

Murphy's War for sure! A bit fanciful in the poster, but I'm a big O'Toole fan and noticed it right away too Lew! 😉

@LewZ
I think I can narrow this one down considerably.
It appears to be an old steam-powered tug working on Lake Tahoe, rather than a Florida boat.

The giveaway is the combination of the small steam tug, tall smokestack, and the Sierra Nevada mountain backdrop.
Historical records specifically document steam tugs on Lake Tahoe towing log booms for the lumber industry in the late 19th century.
