It sounds like a current overload for the speed controller which may activate a cutout to prevent heating and fire. Look at the current ability of the controller (search it on online) then put an ammeter in series with the circuit to see what amps are being drawn by the motor. Obviously the current draw increases when the prop turns in water due to the water resistance on the prop.

They're located on the outside and about quarter of an inch wide small little plastic pins And there is usually six little pins sticking up you can plug it into for the type of battery that you're using and if you want a reverse forward control Do you have the instruction manual that came with the Unit It should show you the positioning of the for different types of battery and forward and backward movement on your transmitter

@BernhardP the present motor isn’t operating, so I suspect the current draw will be zero. A smaller motor may work, and give me an idea of what current is available , especially if I add load.

Einem kleineren Motor fehlt dann die Kraft.Nimm einen kleineren Propeller.

@BernhardP thanks for the reply.

Not tried to measure the amps from the controller yet, it’s the correct regulator for the model, may try that with a smaller motor, if I can find one.

Wie viel Ampere bringt denn der Regler?
Ist der Regler für Gleichstrom?

brushed motor problems

hi, sorry for the intrusion, aeromodeller here (sorry) but I hope someone can point me in the right direction.
I'm trying to fix my Grandson's HTX vortex model boat, initially I thought the R/C receiver and motor control card was burnt out. So bought a replacement.
Steering servo works ok, the motor works when connected directly to a 2S battery, and I'm measuring 7.5V at the output wires of the controller. But when I connect the motor to the controller (boat in water) then I may get a little snatch of a run, then nothing. Any suggestions, summer hols are going by and would love to get him on the water again.
