@LewZ hi now in process of Velcro to attach 2 half inch sheets polystyrene to hull ,well out of water but still wants to tip over when you put top deck on .keel 8inch 19 ounces of lead .need more depth.a friend is making me a woodenlined test tank 48 x16d 16wide,so I can try my 12inch keel try different weight s,and then I will add 1 inch hull in balsa then strips of mahogany to match it 😀

LewZ same problem with model Thames Sailing Barges, many modelers add a drop keel , just like the one Allan Bond used on Australia II Col

I found a photo (attached) so now I understand what you are talking about and see the issue. A deep keel might be an issue with catching on weeds. These top heavy boats with high "wind catching" superstructures are a pain. Would a shallow false bottom work? That would displace water as well as add weight. Keep all the internals (battery, etc.) low in the hull.

Hi no photos only kindle cannot send,Mantua 1870 1metre in length .Lots on internet and utube I built to plan but tried in bath ,turn over nearly ,I am now increasing the depth of hull by 1 inch balsa covered with strips of mahogany and a 8 inch dropped keel 18 ounces of lead and replaced the 2 stacks 9ounces with 3 ounces thin plastic pipe.still wants to tip over . I have a12 inch keel and lots of lead but my bath is not deep enough 🤔
