Hi, yes you are correct, cabin roof is in 3 pieces, and also "slopes" to the front, terrible explanation sorry! its actually quite a complex shape.
I (well,,,,,,, HS93 did for me!) just made a new cabin roof, that is removeable

HI I have just found this forum, I am just starting to build this fire tender from a set of plans I have just managed to get hold of.
It is the 46inch version of this kit, at present I am just drawing the templates from the plans,
one of the things I cannot judge from the drawings is the shape of the forward cabin roof. from memory(I did build this kit many years ago) the front cabin roof is in three pieces the other roofs are all curved I think.
Can anyone help please.

you are correct, the photos are in the wrong order, the boat with the green superstructure has had the rear deck walls cut off and replaced with full depth new wood.
the open hull structure still has whats left of the original side walls in place (painted white)

DB,
Thanks for the pics and comments.
Are the pictures reversed? Pic 1 seems to show the full depth of the rear well. On pic 2 its seems that the rear well height is the same as the bottom of the cabin side.
I will plan my cuts and try to do it one piece but thats going to require some pretty exact cutting so as not to get any vertical gaps between the bulkhead and cabin side.

you are correct.. the cabin sides run straight through to the transom (along your dotted line) you can see the remains of the original white cabin sides in the hull in the photo..
the lower section (below your dotted line) is a seperate piece
this was probably done for economy of materials during the kitting process
I have cut off the originals and replaced them on my other 34" boat with full depth pieces as you can see in the second photo
hope this helps

I'm trying to work out the construction of the original Fireboat. My question relates to the lower rear deck behind the tow hook. It would appear the side walls to the rear well "butt" up against the underside of the side window?
Would It not make more sence to locally extend the window frames down In this area.
My sketch Illustrates my point, should this be one or two pieces.
PS - Bulkhead notches are not shown at this time,
