Honestly. I would take out anything that took me too far away from what I’d like to do and fabricate what I need to do to keep me as close to the instructions as I can.
Some decent two part epoxy and a lightweight fiberglass for patching what you ripped out would be fine.

@jumpugly that sounds good to me. I have a little problem that I have Maybe you can help me I have the 1 piece hull and i noticed that the rudder is attached to the hull using what appears to be 2 brackets. I do not have those brackets because my kit that I have is for the 2 piece hull. It attaches differently with a bracket screwed to the hull Any suggestions ??? Thanks

The two piece hull and the fiberglass are exactly the same in order to support the same deck, cabin, and wheel house. 👍🏻

@jumpugly I believe I have found a one piece hull Brooklyn tug. Was just wondering, would this be better than the two-piece? Also with everything from my two piece hull kit work for that one piece hull ??? was just asking what the pros and cons of one piece over two piece. Thanks.

@Ronald yup it’s not the Carol Moran tug I do know there 2 tugs. 1 short. 1 long. My hull put together measures 35 inches long 7 1/2 inches wide So I’m betting it’s not the Lackawanna either. But still looking before cutting. Also checked beam measurement and I can spread it to fit 9 1/2 fit

I did some research and concluded that the idea of “stretching the hull” which came in his kit by adding a couple frames and sheeting in the center of the hull will only work if the hull is in the same scale as the Dumas Brooklyn tug he has parts to built. But here lies the problem, the hull is probably a Lackawanna which came as a 33” Hull and Beam 6” in 1/48 scale.
The Brooklyn kit is 1/32 with a hull 39 1/2” and Beam of 9 1/2”.

It can’t be a Dumas Carol Moral as those kit hulls were made in two lengths 50” and 20”.

I sent this in a personal email to our friend suggesting he shop around for another Brooklyn tug model.

I have a set of McCandless Carol Moran plans with a sheer plan with body plan frames. Due to the Moran and Brooklyn’s similar size I will send a scan of the frame plan. Frame 10 is your center beam frame.

Do you have a drawing or something to make a copy of the frames at the center of the model’s hull, something that Stacey could use to extend the hull the required length?

@jumpugly Thanks for your help. I hope they find either the 1 piece or the 2 piece hull either one is fine with me. I haven’t given up hope yet. But I wished I had just ordered the whole kit before Dumas closed. I’m sure there’s a lot pull out there somewhere.

@Ronald That thought had crossed my mind. I have been doing some research and can’t find a Dumas hull with the measurements that i have. I truly hope I can find the 2 piece hull. I wished that I had checked when I first got this hull but i didn’t. I would have ordered a hull from Dumas before they closed. Or I could have ordered the whole kit. Instead of piecing together to complete this build. I’m still looking and checking. Thanks for the input

Just wondering, if you glue up your two piece hull, next find the midpoint, then cut it across from one side to the other making two pieces, all that is now required is to fill in the required 4 1/2” inches with your own bulkheads and exterior sheeting.

@jumpugly Thank you for everything. I hope I can find this hull either 1 piece or 2 piece. I purchased all the parts from dumas and ready to assemble. Until I realized the hull I have was only 35 inches instead of 39 1/2 which is the Brooklyn size. And of course they closed June 5th. And have been following your build and love what you have done and a few ideas of yours I’ve incorporated in my other boats. Again thanks and if you come across either hull please let me know. That's a very tough get. I have my local boat maven DaveyBoyz looking, but he's already got two guys looking for the older fiberglass version as opposed to the two piece. Keep looking for the fiberglass, it's much less of a struggle than joining the flexing/wobbly two-piece version. Def join and try (if haven't already) RCUniverse.com and RCGroups.com
