1 Buntline is to pull the foot of the sail up when furling

2 Stopper takes the strain of a working line (here is a use for a rolling hitch)

3 Lift helps to hold up the yard and to cant the yard

4 Bob Chain pulls the bowsprit down to counter the pull of the jibs

5 Throat halyard

I am deliberately trying to find questions where AI wont help as well to see how many answers we get without that help, my point of view if you are only a model maker how can you make an accurate model if you dont know all the correct parts, their name and what they do

For me, the problem is the English terms, not the number of questions or their content.
They're probably very easy, but if you don't translate well, it's useless.

Hi Budding Captains

What are the following (all related to rigging on a Square Rigger):-

1. A Buntline.
2. A Stopper.
3. A Lift.
4. A Bob Chain.
5. Lastly if a sail has a peak halyard what other kind of halyard will it most likely have (assuming it is a 4 sided sail)

Good Luck
