Motor Comparison

Are you putting in a set of gears for your tugboat to give it more torque and less speed? Say 3:1

My tug is 23” length and runs with a 3 bladed prop, screw, wheel. You choose the term you want, but it doesn’t really matter to me, I understand.

Use a geared setup because my boat has a bigger motor and needs to be geared. If you follow Roy’s wise suggestions you can’t go wrong! He knows what he’s talking about.

Motor Comparison

I am sure the T4 is a nice motor but stick with te 385. It has a 2.3mm shaft diameter the other one is 4mm. and probably heavier.

Motor Comparison

Hello again, it's been a while!
I'm still working here and there on my 20" long tug boat, it currently has a 385 motor from Component Shop and the consensus was that this is one of the best motors for the size of tug.
However I recently found the T4A from Mobile Marine Models while checking to see if the bigger T12 was back (for a different model) and wondered if anyone might be able to offer a comparison please?
The T4A doesn't seem to have in depth specs listed like the 385.
