Here is your your statement " Holland is not an entire country below sea level. Only 25% of it is below current sea levels. The Dutch coastline is also only a fraction of that of Florida."

Florida is also not all at sea level. Mostly coastal areas are vulnerable. The size of Florida is not an issue as canal and flood control system can be built individually. It can be done! All we need is to have the government shift priorities before we turn to "Water World".

My point is not my roof or my insurance ( my home was built less than 4 years ago ). It is about the government of Florida not doing their job in protecting it's inhabitants. They can work on the insurance scams and also built better flood protection plans.

Issac, l wasn't insuating that your roof problems wasn't due to storm nor that you are making a phoney claim. 2-1/2 years ago the company I used for home insurance went out of business. Finding another company was difficult and the cost went up at least 30 percent. I subsequently investigated what happened.

The main reason was people were claiming damage and getting paid for full home entire roof replacements using the insurance company to fund the replacement. This broke many companies. I could go into more details on why old roofs (especialy shingle) are more suspectable to leaking.

I built my current home in 1972 and have never filed an insurance claim. I have had the roofing replaced several times.

I hope this clarifies my previous post on this topic. Take care.

Let me diverge for a short while.

The unfortunate aspect of the current politics, is spending resources on fighting Micky Mouse and Florida school boards instead of fixing the insurance scams and improving flood prevention projects.

Just look at Holland. An entire country at sea level and no more floods. Canals, gates and huge infrastructure to address it all.

Now back to the safety of our boats.

Florida residents are getting more soaked by the insurance rates than rising water or rain! Most likely caused by people wanting coverage to replace their aging and leaking roofs caused by "damage". They have been trying to get this under control. This has caused many insurance companies to either cease coverage or go out of business.

As soon as insurance gets involved, my premiums will go up. I'm waiting for a proposal from a roofer that came over to inspect it this morning. Then depending on the amount, I will decide how to pay for it. My Home Owners Association (HOA) already said they will not pay for it. So I need to discuss it with my insurrer.

Bottom line is that all of Florida will be under water permanently. It is only a matter of time. Hopefully, this will occur long after I am gone. And if it happens sooner, I would pick up and leave it to the alligators to take over once more.😂😂😂

Cheers

Thank you

So far I only have a roof leak ( not massive ). Nothing that a few thousands of $$ will not fix.

We are OK.

Lucky for me our street has not flooded. No need for a rescue or an ark.😁

If I had an RC submarine I could run it submerged down the middle of the road in front of my house!

It is now 3PM EST on Sunday, Aug 4. The storm is about 130 miles to the weat of us, and heading north. Probably will be a cat 1 or 2 hurricane in a few hours. We are doing fine👌. Just took the photo from my back door.

We got wacked with Ian two years ago. The path kept changing and we got hit. We evacuated a day before it hit for fear of flooding. Some damage to the home and my RV.

This one looks like it will steer well north of both of us. But lots of rain and winds.

Be safe as well

Thanks

Stay safe Isaac, I'm a little bit north and west of you. They almost always get the path wrong this early in the season. Same with this one, TS "Debbie". The path has moved further west (good!).

A tropical storm possibly growing to a hurricane is coming my way here in Florida.

My boats are safe. The other boats not shown are in the garage.
