If only

It was always my ambition to build a full size dinghy - albeit somewhat smaller than the one in the picture. I have to accept this will never happen now.

Selway Fisher designs often follow similar construction to model boats and indeed he has a series of designs specifically to be built as models >>

Yep it is the real deal. All the major components are done.
A real shame as he would have spent many hours on it using some great timbers.

Same Barry. I spent many happy years racing 14ft and 12ft dinghys and have 3 of my kids who joined in with their own boats. 4 dinghys in one family. One went to large yacht racing and has never lost the touch.

It took some time to learn to use my thumbs to sail my models.

That is a golden opportunity for someone!
I have all the equipment and shed room to finish that project.
However, at my age I can only dream of my past days of pulling on the
sheets and hiking overboard. How I miss it!

From the picture this would appear to be 1:1 scale. A bit too large for my workshop. Such a shame !😉

If only I had the room and time this opportunity would be too hard to pass up. A partially completed yacht advertised for sale locally at no cost.

She is a "White Swan” by Selway Fisher in the UK. It’s a 19’6” gaff-rigged cutter, somewhat reminiscent of the Bristol Channel cutters.

The owner/builder has had a change in life and cannot complete. Wants to see it go to a person who appreciates the classic boats.

If only........Back to my models.
