obtain a new matching prop of opposite thrust not rotation( this can stay the same, it just different blade angles.

You'll have to patent that! 🤔

Reversing motor rotation is simply swap (reverse) to motor leads on one motor.
Bear in mind, if the boat had both propellors pitched (handed) left or right, you will now have one motor wanting to send you backwards and one forward.
You will need one Right hand pitch, and one Left hand pitch, commonly available from Prop Shop, or any good model boat shop.

Many full-size boats have them turn in the same direction as it's not worth the expense of having handed gearboxes. Also the power of the engines and weight of the boat rarely mean there is a problem.

For a faster model with powerful motors the model can roll to one side in a straight line and have been known to flip over due to the prop walk and torque reaction if power is applied too suddenly.

When reversing the direction of a brushed motor you may find it runs faster in the original direction due to the design of the brushes.

Paulc.
I agree with Len,👍
That is why I made mention of prop rotation earlier.

please take note that one of the props is right handed and the other one is left handed. With that said both motors should be running in the same directions.

Hello Paulc.
No problem.
We are all here to help each other on this site.
Looking at the picture you posted it would be easy to rewire in situe.
Don’t forget though that depending on the props that are fitted you may have to change one as it could be rotating in the wrong direction.

Hi Paulc.
The simplest method is simply rewire both motors positive to negative.
I attach a couple of pictures I posted on our site just the other day if this helps.
By wiring this way one will turn clockwise and the other anti-clock wise.
You will need to ensure you have left and right handed propellers as well.
Hope this helps.

Hi very new to model boats.
Have got a second hand rc model boat with twin motors both turn the same way.
How do you make one go anti clockwise.
Any help is much appreciated.
