Pilot boat Britannia

Hi Wolfgang, and thank you as I appreciate your comments on my boats, the non Mountfleet model is an all wood plank on-frame model by Marvon Models from donkeys years ago. I understand the must have and being stupid syndrome, which is something I tend to do also. My last purchase being a TVR 1A steam engine on eBay, and I now need to find a suitable gas-fired boiler. My current build is a Clyde Puffer from Mountfleet and the progress is very slow, despite the fact it is almost complete. Check out My Harbour which hopefully you will find interesting as they all have steam engines. Regards, Gary.

Hello Gary
Those are 2 beautiful ships you show there. Yes, the price isn't cheap, but I fell in love and then you do stupid things. I'm going about it like a virgin. Just get started. I had also built the Zwarte Zee from Billig Boats and the building instructions could be thrown in the bin with a clear conscience. I let myself be surprised.

Hi Wolfgang, and yes I have a little experience with Mountfleet and have built a couple of their kits, mind I find their ever-rising prices quite frightening these days. I think Mountfleet's weak points tend to be a lack of clear instructions and white metal fittings that leave a lot to be desired. The Britannia is very much a converted North Sea Drifter as in their Danny Boy model, as you can see for yourself with the photo. Good luck with the build and please do a build log, as myself and others will be interested with your progress and problems along the way. Regards, Gary.

Hello Wolfgang.

I really like this type of model, excellent choice.

The dimensions are optimal because it fits in the trunk of a normal car. Even the weight is not excessive, a single person can carry it easily.

The details seem very accurate. In fact, with the 1/24 scale there must necessarily be a lot of attention to detail.

I'm curious to see your work as it begins.

The construction report will definitely come. But it may still take a while, first I will finish Rau IX.

Hello Bill
I have already ordered it and am eagerly waiting for it to arrive. I emailed the manufacturer and he wrote back that it would still take a few weeks because fittings still need to be cast.

Hello Wolfgang.
Now that looks an interesting and intricate project.
Have you set your mind on building it or just thinking about it?

Bill.
