Lovely longcase clock.
A friend of mine made a complete regency style dining table, chairs and sideboard from mahogany packing cases collected from the London docks by his father who worked there. He was a skilled cabinet maker and the finished items looked superb.😉

Wow! Beautiful job, even though not a boat or ship! 👍😉😁
So many ships . . . and so little time . . .

Me too. At one of the places I worked someone ordered a large piece of equipment that came in a large wooden crate. I took the crate home, and this is what I made out of it

Good for you.
In my case, I work for a mayor display company and after every trade show we do, our clients leave things behind.
Every day I walk around the shop, stop and look at one item and pause to figure out 🙄 how could I integrate it on one of my models.

Good for you. I take great pride in making things from what I’ve got on hand.

Anybody can buy parts, it’s ok with me, but my hobby is building model ships. I want to make all of it. All of my boats contain all kinds of odd household items.

Wez, if it was me I'd drill with a 1.2mm drill and use some 18swg pins to hold to roof.
Cheers Colin.

Wes:
Great idea.
We have so many things around the house that with a little imagination we can make it work.
I remember actually cutting some of my wife’s hair to use them as antennae for a tiny 1/700 war vessel.
The best part was that she let me cut it off.
