HI John
Yes I have started making superstructure, and a few other items in between waiting for planking glue to set. Here are a few pics of parts I have started to build.

Excellent job. You could varnish it if you wanted. Do I detect the already assembled superstructure and forecastle in the background? John

Hello folks just a few pics of my slow progress, had to cut my own planks which took a bit of time. 180 of them so I could stagger the joints.

Thanks Martin.

I'd love to build a much larger version of Nordkap, but I already work 12 hours a day, mostly in front of the computer. I wish you luck and I'd love to see some progress photos. if you don't post them on this thread, please redirect me to the thread you're using.

HI John
I am not actually building a Nordcap. Martin requested pics of completed models and I was able to supply pics of some fellow club members completed models.
I usually build from plans either bought or own design and only copy for my own use to help with the construction and to preserve the original.

Martin, I also have scans of every wooden component. They are very high res (600dpi) and very large. All are designed to overlap and each has a ruler alongside for scaling purposes. I also planned to build a double size model, but the idea has been shelved. The scans were taken off a kit purchased in the 1980's if I recall. My friend who owned it never started the model and when he died earlier this year his family gave it to me. I've since passed it on to a fellow club member to build.

I respect copyright and have since removed the plan in my earlier post. I hope you or David got it before I did. I will however send you the scans if you need them, but I'm not prepared to make them available to everyone.

Sorry Dave, I'm not prepared to open a dropbox account. I did however notice the Upload feature which I missed before. The TIFF was rejected so I made it a jpg the same size as the original model. I hope you can see it.

I also have dozens of photos of the model and most are very detailed.

Note: Image has been removed for copyright reasons.

HI Martin,

Yes, I have the plan and identifies every component. I enlarged it to 4ft I think, but it will go even bigger at a plan shop. Please PM me with a contact address and I'll send it to you. it's approximately 4 meg.

HI fellows
John the link you have sent is what I am using to build my boat. What I really need is the actual build plan that comes with the kit version, if you have one I would be greatfull for a copy.
Dave sent me some photos via dropbox which I found a big help, and am very greatfull to him.
I havent been on the forum for a while owing to Ill health, but Im fighting fit again, must be old age...lol

HI Martin
I've sent you the photos and see you have received them via dropbox. Hope they help.
I have spoken to Malc the owner of a Norcap and he advises the whole of the rear cabin and deck including the side supports lift off. I understand that he also extended the access slightly to the stern to give access to the rudder. There is a raised deck coaming around the access hole covered by the cabin.
Please ask if you need more details. 😀

HI Martin
There is another model of the Nordcap in our club and I have asked the owner to look how his upperworks are fixed. His was a restoration so he can't remember the details but will be looking later today and I will advise you later.
I have many more pics of this model but they are too large to share on this site. I am attaching a couple to this message. I use a Dropbox account to share files (it's free to register) and if you send me your email address I will send you the link to the dropbox account. You should send your email address via the private messaging service on this site so that your email is not broadcast to the whole world.

Hello Dave
Nice of you to reply so promtly, I would appreciate any referance pics which would be helpfull. I know it was a static model orignally.I am putting rc in mine like others have done. But not having the actuall build drawing makes it a bit hard to scale accuratly. if you google" nordkap 476" they give you the frames and keel plus some super structure the rest is suck it and see if you know what I mean.I need to have access to the steering gear. Can you remember if the one your club had, the whole rear superstructure lifted off, because its fixed on the static one.

Hello fellow modelers
Anyone out there with the main assembly plan for "NORDKAP". I dont mean the parts drawing as I have that. I am scratch building a 6' foot version, but need to see where some parts go.
Here are a couple of pics to show current progress.
Martin.
