I was going for the actual correct answer, brain was activated, target allocation was acquired, calculations worked out for wind velocity and direction, controlled my breathing, relaxed and comfortable, rechecked my proposed answer for correct selection, then carefully placed my index finger on the answer, touched " are you sure " and got the wrong answer......i realised i had had an issue and totally missed my proposed aiming point...

with regard to today's question, I associate the word shipwreck with the likes of storm seas, hurricane winds, and running aground on rocks or whatever. The USS Indianapolis was first bombed by the Japanese, then after being repaired was hit by two torpedoes and sank, with a great loss of life. Mind I could be wrong of course as I usually am with the quiz questions so far, and yesterday's was no exception to this rule I opted for WIND. Regards, Gary.

I have to say that on reading the question I instantly went for USS Indianapolis.(Rightly of Wrongly).
I instantly discounted the others purely on the date given in the question.
This potentially could be a real topic for a debate on literal correctness.
The debate being on the difference between a Novel and a Book.(Too long to type here but look it up)
Indeed I can find no NOVELS on the Indianapolis but there are numerous BOOKS written on this tragic sinking and whilst I agree I wouldn’t call the film exactly famous it certainly was graphically correct.
A debatable typo worded question down to individual interpretation,but I feel that the correct answer is Indianapolis.
We also have to remember this is a light hearted quiz and not University Challenge 😂😂.
I could well be wrong…the wife frequently tells me I am!!

Either 1912 instead of 1942 -> correct answer Titanic, film and books? Check. But novel, can't find one. Survivors accounts in book form apparently existed??
Several films were made, including a silent movie starring a survivor. Famous is of course James Cameron's in 1997.

Arrived at the 'correct' (🙄) answer by simple elimination, but a Mull is not a sea passage but a hill or promontory, as in the southern tip of of Kintyre (Mull of Kintyre) which is the closest point to Northern Ireland. But I've never heard of a 'Straight of Kintyre' which would make more sense. And yes, I have travelled the west coast of Scotland and the coast of Northern Ireland from Belfast to Londonderry. Giant's Causeway is phenomenal😉

Hi all, I have to report a success and have transferred all my address book names into the new address book! I am not sure how but there was an email involved!
I can relax now just got to sort out how to get my second email account on there as well.

Sundays back in the day were rest days the shops were shut hymns were sung and you usually got a good lunch.
Where did it all go? I used to sing in the choir but am now relegated to the shower. We used to go for a walk after lunch with the 2 children (whether they liked it or not) or perhaps a morning sail of a boat if not required for the choir.

I think this all fits in with Question of the day? I suppose we all have to answer the Q of the D first before we can read the posts.

I also use apple and am involved with PIRDA where we recycle donated computers into usable ones and give to worthy causes, eg schools

Yes Roy, the Americans did have an Oxcart project.
The objective being to design a replacement for the U2 pop group.😁

I have had many a blazing row with chatbots and robophone operators. Anything that doesn't tie in with their default answers. Even HUMAN OPERATOR ! HUMAN OPERATOR! HUMAN OPERATOR! and AGENT AGENT AGENT Doesn't sway them from their path. "You want to hear your balance is that right?" Or " you want to leave a meter reading? Is that correct?" I had 3 days of that trying to contact Fedex last week. Top tip coming up folks! I posted my questions and concerns on their Facebook page. Guess what! They contacted me within 5 minutes of posting. I don't know! When the machines start talking to you who or what is real? I regularly have talks with the EDF robot who is mad. Keeps wanting to call me Roy, I don't know why as he is just a badly assembled algorithm.

When eventually and finally EDF revealed they had humans, they sorted out my Smart Gas meter. Now the robot can have as long a chat with my meters as they like.

The humans who arrived were really nice I expect the robots hold members of the family as hostages, to encourage good behaviour? It took over 2 years for the work to be done, which is why I thought I was in some Kafkaesque universe alone with a computer.

Did I ever tell you I hate computers? I spent my working life going out to look at broken ones, sometimes sitting up all night with them!
During that time I also had to encourage other guys to go out and do what I did. They did not deserve that but the company used to screw money out of these computer owners and in my chagrin I took the money they offered to feed my own wife and children.
Then when you get thrown out everyone needs a computer and need to be able to type just to keep up. I have to get past my anti conditioning just like that!

So reality Where art thy sting?

Hello Bill nice to have someone understand! They have changed my pills, after a short time in an Australian hospital they determined that my imminent demise was being speeded up by the NHS pills prescribed.
Now they hve been changed I am feeling better but these extraneous thoughts do keep recurring. My escape is making model boats or at least thinking about making.....

The question of the day maybe keeping me on track so to speak but as I said before "Who knows"?

Guess I was lucky with the 'leaky' question😉
With the exceptions of hiring a small motor yacht for the day on Elba (no wind 🤔 so just motored along the north coast to a secluded cove) and a 'porpoise spotting' excursion in the Canary Isles (during which poor Gisela spent most of the time hanging over the rail feeding her breakfast to the fish☹️); my professional experience of the prototypes of our beloved hobby was spent crawling/climbing around larger vessels; from 60m Patrol Boats / FAC up to a 212m (695ft) aircraft carrier (ex RN Colossus class HMS Vengeance). So I automatically thought of bilges and associated pumps 😉
But I agree with the comments regarding a certain ambiguity re size and equipment of 'boat / ship'🤔
