Krick of Germany

Hi Doug
The website is quite clear in identifying which areas it will ship to. I have also checked for Krick items on Amazon and they also say delivery is not available to my location. I agree, before on-line shopping became popular a few major suppliers across the World cornered the market and controlled the price via local distributors. Robbe, Graupner and others were supplied to retailers via this method. All modellers used these excellent products but habits changed and competition from other suppliers at cheaper prices lead to their inevitable demise.
Fortunately I can source all my requirements often with Free next day delivery.

I guess I am a little too detail orientated. When I built my Graupner "Wiesel" many years ago and it was 1/3 complete, I had to make many modifications to make it look right. The Anfora model kit for the "Duna" also required modifications. It is supposed to be the "Frederic Mistral" but they renamed it. This kit too require some modifications but not anything major. Anfora did a much better job in reproducing the model than Graupner or Robbe.

When I was given the Dusseldorf It looked great sitting on the table but when I compared it to the photos of the real Dusseldorf I realized something was wrong. Turned out too many things were wrong. I have attached a photo a well built model of the Dusseldorf. (I know this is the lengthened version but the boat is essentially the same.)

If you want to explore what pains Wilfried Dahmen took to make the Dusseldorf model look realistic I suggest this site: https://www.dahmen.de/cat7747.html

The point I guess I am trying to make is scale model versus standoff scale model. I would think that with a little more thought the Robbe Dusseldorf would not look so toy like (in my opinion)>

Hadn't though of that Dave🤔
But then, living in Germany I wouldn't would I!😁
They use DHL who operate worldwide so it might be worth asking for a delivery quote.
They must also supply distributors/hobby shops around the world coz I'm sure I've seen folks on our site who have built Krick kits and used Krick components?
Unfortunately no list of distributors on their site☹️
If push comes to shove I could perhaps act as a 'Relay Station' for special cases.
Or maybe I've got a spare part someone needs.
Cheers, Doug😎

Hi Lew.
I agree that the detail is not quite like the prototype but is more than enough for me. I spent the last 20 years making high volume production moulds tools for N gauge and oo9 narrow gauge carriages and wagons along with a N gauge Collet locomotive complete. My company was the main supplier to a British model train and track manufacturer and so I am used to the requirement to be as close to the prototype as possible. Now all I want is to ensure it looks nice.😀
I cannot promise to finish one project before starting another. I know, I tried.

H Doug
I agree Krick is a quality supplier. I looked at their website just to see what might be available and was impressed. However they only seem to ship from their on line shop to EU states if I have read the shipping instructions correctly. Has anyone outside the EU had recent experience with Krick?

Hi Doug.
Nothing specific right now. I have difficulty in finding things like split pins and, believe it or not, the differing super glues. I use Amazon de but their delivery cost is often much higher than the products I buy.

Krick has been my Go To supplier for several years now; rapid delivery, good service, reasonable prices for quality 'stuff' and if it says 'In Stock' on their website IT IS and is delivered in 2 or 3 days😀
I use them for materials, including the Deluxe Materials range (EzeKote and adhesives), Quikrun ESCs, Switchers amongst other odds and ends. Very happy with them.😊

Before BREXIT I used to use Component Shop for Action Electronics modules.
But now Customs delays and duty make that an expensive pain in the U know where!😠 I've since found a few specialist German companies that do similar modules and excellent smokers.
Peter; as requested I'll dig out some names and links for you - hope you're not in a hurry though! Are you looking for anything particular?

Great service sounds good! I have a Dusseldorf that I deconstructed - so I was able to see the quality of the kit which seems good as well but them capturing the design of the real Dusseldorf lacks quite a bit. Not their fault as this was originally a Robbe design/build. The entire superstructure is off quie a bit.

Once again Krick of Germany have shown what a good after sales service they offer. I always admired customer services in the US but Krick are every bit as good.
I altered a spring, wrongly, on one of the monitors for Dusseldorf. I started this model four years ago. All I gave them was the part number, model and my address. This was last Wednesday. The spring arrived yesterday without question or charge. This is what I call service. I really like their models and will be looking at their range in view of buying another. Look at this other suppliers. Give great service and your sales go up. A lesson to be learned Deans Marine?
