RAF Crash Tender New Build

I have sourced an ESC, it's a Hobbywing SEAKING 90A ESC it has forw/rev running mode and a high burst current of 180 amps.
I run a couple of 120amp hobbywings in my fast electrics, up to now they have performed well and are easy to set up with a program card.

HI Chris, I think that's the motor I will go with, it gives 530 watts which should be enough considering there will not be heavy lead acid batteries in it, just need to find the right ESC to go with it now. Also it will take 4 cells if 3 cells is not enough.

HI Alan
I'm also looking at modernising to brushless in my original Aerokits 34" crash tender ( bit heavier than normal as it's aging hull is reinforced with fibreglass ) presently running with a Graupner speed 600 on 9.6v NiMH. in a recent article in Model Boats Ron Rees compared a 3636 outrunner motor to the Speed 600 saying that it was supposed to be the equivalent but in fact was three times more powerful.

Do keep us posted as to how you get on and what ESC & battery set up you arrive at. I'm sure I'm not alone in theconfusion.
Best Wishes
Chris

Thanks for that Stephen, think that's what I will go with then, can I ask what ESC you have, is it water cooled or one with a fan on it.

HI Alan,

I'm not certain what the KV is of the brushless motor I have in my 34" crash tender but I think it's close to 1250 (got a feeling mine is 1400 ish) and I also run it on an 11.1 Lipo.

For the size of the boat it certainly flies along, (in fact I rarely dare to go at full speed) so I'd say you can't go wrong with that motor, and it's only £12.44!

RAF Crash Tender New Build

I have just bought The Lesro RAF Crash Tender at the Haydock show and was wondering If there Is anything I should know before I start the build.

You know how It Is, you get halfway through the build and some helpful soul will say, "you should not have done that".
